Publisher's summary

The rewards of mindfulness practice are well proven: reduced stress, improved concentration, and an overall sense of well-being. But those benefits are just the beginning. Mindfulness in action - mindfulness applied throughout life - can help us work more effectively with life's challenges, expanding our appreciation and potential for creative engagement.

This guide to mindful awareness through meditation provides all the basics to get you started but also goes deeper to address the questions that naturally arise as your practice matures and further insight arises. Brilliant Narration, Sound Advice

First of all, I could listen to Roger Clark read the phone book. His assured narration gives me the impression of being in an imaginary, idealized Oxford lecture hall where I may not always be following along, but I'm happy to be here.

Second, for a novice and halfhearted meditator like myself, these lectures give a clear idea of what I'm trying to do— Let go of my own dogma and be present. Chögyam Trungpa, Pema Chodron's teacher, talks at length of different paths to finding mindfulness. Overall I found this helpful, empathetic, and even entertaining.

A benchmark in mindfullness and self-discovery.

This masterpiece from Trungpa, clearly describes the destructive loopholes of our self-centered thinking, and addresses the meditation process as a long-life discipline needed to root out the ego and start the awereness and living of the present moment.

Always Sublime

The marriage of Roger Clark's voice and Trungpa's words never disappoints. I believe I have listened to every one of Clark's narrations of this wise lama's books and it is as if his voice is the voice of Trungpa Rinpoche.

10 star if I could

This is a great book. It cuts through the chase and goes directly to the heart of the matter. Read it, live it, then re-read it. Practice, practice, practice. Thank you, C.T., for this beautiful written piece. That is an excellent finger pointing to the moon, and at the same times, all the while, a reminder to see the moon instead of fixating on the finger.

Strange text, strange narrator

Any additional comments?

Simplistic and rather banal "philosophy", general rhetoric, boring ideas, narrated by the voice which better suited to give orders than talk about mindful meditations, All this made me drop this piece.

A true gem

The clearest and most informative instructional manual on mindfulness I've come across yet. This book gave me so many moments of clarity with it's easy and straight to the point instructions. So many points in this practice can seem confusing and even conflicting but Mr. Trungpa straightened a lot of that out for me. Thank you Mr. Trungpa...I greatly appreciate and benefited from, your work.

I need to listen again

One of those books that comes with a lot of heart. It leaves you thinking. I had to put it down a few times because I felt like I had too many subjects that needed time to process. Worth the credit Chögyams becoming a very influential person in my journey

Among His Best

This is very subjective of course. I actually attended Trungpa Rinpoche's talks in Boulder in the early '70s that were transcribed into Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism and Meditation In Action, this book, Mindfulness In Action, is very well timed for where I'm at in my practice. It deals more specifically with the nuts and bolts of meditation combined with Trungpa Rinpoche's clear insights always so well shared. The narration is good, clear and concise. These are new and unique teachings, not a remix. I just finished and I'm starting again.

Beautiful

The message was clear and deliberate. I’ve listened to many mindful books, this one can be compared to letting go. Same message with a more direct way for understanding. I also thoroughly enjoyed the perfect narration.
