Publisher's summary

Whether the issue of the day on Twitter, Facebook, or cable news is our sexuality, political divides, or the perceived conflict between faith and science, today's media pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others.

Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Sauls shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward - away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes.

Pick this book!

Everything I've ever tried to teach my kids about living right loving others loving God and loving their own self and life is taught in this book.

It is the common sense Christians lack when applying the Good Book to others.

Fantastic, Challenging, Encouraging

I love the thoughtful ways the author dissects issues of our current culture with dogged commitment to Jesus. I found myself having to resist the urge to think of “others with that problem”, and to focus on my own hypocrisy. A great listen for those seeking a more open and loving mind!

Got preach

This started great, felt very open and made me receptive to what the author was saying. Halfway through it suddenly got incredibly preachy and “this is how you should act” which was counterintuitive to the first half of the book.

Thought provoking and wise counsel

Scott's somewhat unconventional approach inspired me to think differently, more creatively, and more freely about my behavior as a Christian. I particularly appreciate the reminder to be open to learning something of value even from those I generally disagree with.

Amazing book, a must read!

We need to learn and re learn how to treat each other better, not only because it is nice but because that is the way of a true follower of Jesus.
This book is an amazing book of hope for those who wants to look at the world around us thru the eyes of Jesus.

A different view of Jesus

Things that weren't talked about when discussing Jesus. There is much speculation, but makes one think.

Convicting & Refreshing

Admittedly, I am a huge fan of Pastor Scott. His way of exposing our prejudices against others, covering up our own sins, in neglecting the mission of the gospel is convicting and yet gracious. Furthermore, his exhortation to love others is communicated with humility and intellectual integrity.

Doesn't disappoint

I've listened to 2 other books by Scott and they're all fantastic! He provides balance and wisdom to dealing with complex issues biblically.

So Pertinent Today

I almost passed on this one even though it was included with membership. I'm so glad I took a chance, and all I can say is "amen" to all of it. As a practicing Catholic grandma, I say, hats off to Scott Sauls.

So good I need to buy the physical book

I have always been one to keep books in pristine condition. I had to buy a cheaper bible so I would be ok with highlighting and underlining passages. This book is one you'll want to highlight and underline! So many gems!!! I'm looking forward to reading it again.
