Publisher's Summary

It's the hot topic of the moment. Christians, the church, and the Bible seem to be out of step with modern attitudes towards homosexuality. And there is growing hostility towards those who hold a different view. So is God homophobic? And what do we say, and how do we relate to to both Christians and non-Christians who experience same-sex attraction. In this short, simple book, Sam Allberry wants to help confused Christians understand what God has said about these questions in the scriptures, and offers a positive and liberating way forward through the debate.

Poor Bibilical Interpetation

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Those that still believe homosexuality is a "sin" rather than a "sexual orientation". If your believe the Bible was written directly to 21st century, you may like this book. The author uses poor scholarship.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sam Allberry again?

No, because allows his biases, homosexuality is a sin, saying the Bible aggress with him. He does not allow the Bible to speak for it self. Good scholarship starts with good "textual criticism" allowing the Bible to reflect the culture of 2000 years ago.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

He read well.

What character would you cut from Is God Anti-Gay??

Sam Allberry message to conservative Christians is to love the sinner/ homosexual because God loves all sinners. Yet, he prof text the scriptures to prove his point. Example: Story of Sodom and Gomorra has nothing to say about homosexuality but clearly has references to male to male "rape". Rape is not a homosexual act and no more than it is a heterosexual act. However, the author argues that it was referring to homosexuality.

Excellent and to the Point

It's a short read but full of Biblical truth. As the lines of morality become increasingly gray it is nice to hear some simple truth in an area that is shrouded in a lot of confusion and pain. Sam does a great job of sticking to the facts. I would have liked some more personal stories or experiences in the book since most of the information I have heard before. But for a person who doesn't know what the Bible says about homosexuality this is an excellent and simple read or in my case - listen. I love a good audio book. It allows me to get so much more information crammed in my brain while driving or doing chores.
