Publisher's summary

Introverts have gifts for the church and the world. But many churches tend to be extroverted places where introverts are marginalized. Some Christians end up feeling like it's not as faithful to be an introvert.

Adam McHugh shows how introverts can live and minister in ways consistent with their personalities. He explains how introverts and extroverts process information and approach relationships differently and how introverts can practice Christian spirituality in ways that fit who they are. With practical illustrations from church and parachurch contexts, McHugh offers ways for introverts to serve, lead, worship, and even evangelize effectively.

Introverts in the Church is essential listening for any introvert who has ever felt out of place, as well as for church leaders who want to make their churches more welcoming to introverts. This expanded edition has been revised throughout and includes new research on the neuroscience of introversion and material for parenting and encouraging introverted youth. Discover God's call and empowerment to thrive as an introvert, for the sake of the church and kingdom.

A Needed Work

An introverted fellow chaplain recommended this book to me, and I am very glad for it! This book by Pastor McHugh is a necessary work to explicate the value of introverted Christian. Their service and faith journey may be quieter, but it is no less valuable. Great practical tips. Highly recommend.

Loved every minute of this book!

My struggle and pain almost verbatim. It's difficult to constantly be rejected and misunderstood by the very people who are supposed to love and accept you. It is compounded by the the fact that I'm a minister's wife. I am determined to educate other's and myself through God's grace and perfect love. This book is a huge blessing!

So much Value in this book!

This book helped me discover more about who I was and why God made me the way he did. I no longer feel alone as an introverted Christian. Definitely listen to this book with the intention of taking notes because it is written at a more academic level. I have listened to this book twice and intend on listening a third time. Highly recommended.

Worthy Read

I enjoyed this book. I found several parts that made me laugh, as I could totally relate being an introvert myself. It was a little slow in places. However, I feel it is a worthy read for Pastors and anyone in church leadership.
