Each Chapter Stands Alone

I rather enjoy learning about history and this book gives me just the right amount to make me go "that is so intriguing" while at the same time encouraging me in my own journey of life.
A book a can listen to over and over as well as read, yeah I'm going to buy a printed copy for my personal library too.

Reads like fiction but it’s true!

I wasn’t sure if this would be a theological lecture but it is actually a collection of actual events. Some are biblical accounts that can be found in scripture,. The best for me were modern accounts that were witnessed and reported as actual events. It helps me to realize that GOD is still at work and is ever present!

Good history, but a strong fundamentalist slant

As a Christian of Catholic and Orthodox backgrounds, I really looked forward to listening to this highly reviewed audiobook about what promised to be an inspiring topic. I was very turned-off by the highly anti-Catholic slant which permeated the first half of the book. Several times the author smeared the "Roman Church", implying it is a tool of the Devil, references "Popishness", and on occasion is quite critical of the Anglicans (fortunately, I guess, the Orthodox Church is completely ignored) . The first half of the book reads like a who's who of born-again Protestant saints (disgustingly, very high praise is given to Oliver Cromwell), and Calvinistic pre-destination runs as a strong sub-theme throughout (I suppose the title was a hint), rendering us all as no more than God's robots. This is unfortunate, since the historical events discussed and the effects of prayer would be of more general interest for all Christians (and some non-Christians). I found the latter half of the book more tolerable and somewhat less theologically slanted. So, unless you are a born-again Christian, be warned that you will likely be somewhat disappointed by portions of this presentation (despite the reader giving an excellent performance).
