Publisher's summary

Dr. Hawkins elaborates on his personal growth, physical challenges, and the different aspects of self-healing available through the power of A Course in Miracles. He shares his personal experience with alcohol and his journey "out of hell". Elaborating on how we are subject to only what we hold in mind, he takes us through his fascinating journey of self-healing. "Ultimately," he says, "the Course leads us to a deep joy and peace in understanding that we are not separate. We are truly one and have always been so. From top to bottom, there is nothing that we can’t change by paying attention to the concepts of the Course."

A Tie for My Favorite

What made the experience of listening to Giving Up Illness Through 'A Course in Miracles' the most enjoyable?

I will confess, I love listening to Dr. David Hawkins. I own dozens of his lectures. This in one of my all time favorites. In the top 5. If you are an ACIM fan, then this is right up your alley!

Any additional comments?

What are my top 3?
Letting Go - practice the process given in, I think, Chapter 2. It will get you high!

Poor quality audio but Life Transforming Message

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I enjoyed this - recorded at an AA conference -- 1983? Other speakers too.

What other book might you compare Giving Up Illness Through 'A Course in Miracles' to and why?

Disappearance of Universe

Would you be willing to try another one of David R. Hawkins’s performances?

Yes, I am getting them all.

Could you see Giving Up Illness Through 'A Course in Miracles' being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Sure, this would be wonderful if the audio quality would be better. How about Alan Rickman and Michael Caine?

Any additional comments?

Some parts are very difficult to hear. This is like a trip back to 1983, lots of comments based on events happening at the time.

Audio quality is too poor to really enjoy

Unfortunately, this would be better as a transcribed book because the audio is so poor. It’s a live Q & A, and DH never repeats the muffled questions from the audience members, so too often, you don’t know what the heck he’s speaking in relation to. Despite being a fan of David Hawkins, this one didn’t work for me.

Pros and Cons

I did not like Hawkin's reading of Power vs Force because he is just reading, and the monotone delivery made it hard to listen and stay focused. In this book, however, he speaks to a group, and this is where he really shines. There is a lot of great material here, some familiar ideas and events also given in his other books but spiritual gold and well worth repeating. Weaknesses of the book: 1) I couldn't hear any of the questions his audience asked, though I don't think too much was lost because the answers he gives are comprehensive. 2) The last forty minutes or so are taken by another person speaking and I did not find this inspiring or helpful. Still, I do recommend the book to anyone with an interest in ACIM or in Hawkin's work.

This is not a book!

This was an utter disappointment to me. The "book" is actually a seminar that Dr. Hawkins is conducting. The audio is in very poor condition and many parts of it are inaudible. Do not waste your time with this nonsense. Audible should be ashamed for offering this as a book!

amazing material but low quality

An amazing audiobook. Unfortunately parts are uncomprehendable due to quality. Even still it's worth it.
