Story
You are NOT who you think you are. In fact, according to best-selling author Craig Groeschel in Altar Ego, you need to take your idea of your own identity, lay it down on the altar, and sacrifice it. Give it to God. Offer it up. Why? Because you are who God says you are. And until you’ve sacrificed your broken concept of your identity, you won’t become who you are meant to be. When we place our false labels and self-deception on the altar of God’s truth, we discover who we really are as his sons and daughters.

"Over the last four decades, I've met one-on-one with thousands of men. Most of them know that Jesus promised "a rich and satisfying life" (John 10:10), but too many are confused about what that looks like. In fact, I'd estimate that 90 percent of Christian men lead lukewarm, stagnant, defeated lives—and they hate it. When men try to put into words what's holding them back, they invariably describe one or more of seven symptoms. But you can experience a powerful life transformed by Christ. I'll tell you how." Speakers often use the words vision, boldness, and influence to describe the characteristics of effective leaders. In The Most Excellent Way to Lead, Perry Noble makes the case that the heart of great leadership lies elsewhere. Perry, despite being voted least likely to succeed in high school, beat the odds against him. Today, he inspires 3,500 people every weekend to live for something greater than themselves. He credits this achievement to the leadership principles he has learned from the Bible.

Story
Speakers often use the words vision, boldness, and influence to describe the characteristics of effective leaders.

We're here to uncover the needs God created within us - needs for meaning, intimacy, honesty, humility, justice, compassion, and more - and how he designed us to find those needs fulfilled in him.

In You Are Beloved, Bobby Schuller shows you how to let go of these fears and put your trust in the One who sees you for who you really are. Here is an easy to follow, proven path to personal dignity for all those who think they are not good enough no matter how much they achieve. This path is illuminated by the truths that it is not about what you accomplish, but what has already been accomplished for you; not about what you have, but what has already been provided; and not about who others say you are, but who God says you are. Know that you are valued, cared for, and embraced. You Are Beloved will help you rebuild your life as a response to that assurance.

Sensing that God was calling him to serve the poor and powerless of Los Angeles, Matthew founded the Dream Center, a beacon of hope for homeless families, drug addicts, abused women and children, victims of human trafficking, teen runaways, gang members, and many others whose lives were filled with brokenness.

Interruptions: They're aggravating - sometimes infuriating. They make us want to tell people what we think of them. But how we handle interruptions actually tell us more about ourselves. The prophet Jonah's existence was interrupted by a call of God that would require a complete change of life. And it scared him enough to make him run in the opposite direction. Yet, what seemed to him to be an unnecessary and useless interruption was really an opportunity for Jonah to be involved in something the likes of which the Old Testament world had never seen before.

Most of us have no idea where we're going most of the time. Perfect. "Celtic Christians had a name for the Holy Spirit - An Geadh-Glas, or 'the Wild Goose.' The name hints at mystery. Much like a wild goose, the Spirit of God cannot be tracked or tamed. An element of danger, an air of unpredictability surround Him. And while the name may sound a little sacrilegious, I cannot think of a better description of what it's like to follow the Spirit through life. I think the Celtic Christians were on to something.

Unparalleled, Practical Wisdom for Life
For those who don't know Craig Groeschel, he is the premier church innovator in the US, possibly the world. The words in this book are so simple I'm sure the depth of its wisdom will go unnoticed by most.
Everyone I talk to wants to have the best life they can have. If I could go back to when I became a teenager and tell my friends to practice these 7 items with me, the world would be a different place.
Read this book, start its advice & share with someone else who you want to truly live life.

Practical
Great for any believer, but especially for those needing counsel, or those who are new in their faith. Many encouraging testimonies and focal points for Christian living

Great substance, not so great delivery.
Overall, I got a lot out of this book. The substance was all there and what I needed to hear. The delivery though, not so great. It felt like the reader just read one very, very long sentence. The pause between paragraphs and chapters or even sections wasn't really a pause at all. I usually listen to my books on my way into work and when I get there I have to pause the story, but there was never a good spot to pause because the reader never allowed for one.
Maybe don't use this guy again or teach him a different way to deliver the story.

Best Book Of 2017 So Far For Me
Groeschel has another hit on his hands! I love the layout of the book. My analytical type A self loved the outline format. Thank you for the kick in the pants to get going and to stay after it! God Bless!

narrator seemed monotone.
I listen to books while driving. I couldn't keep focused with the tone of the narrator.

This book really had an impact in my life!!
What did you love best about Divine Direction?
The book is just so easy to follow even in audio, but it has such a deep and meaningful message that conveys real actions that I've begun applying them in my life
What other book might you compare Divine Direction to and why?
Lasting Impact: 7 powerful conversations that will help your church grow. It compares to this book not because it talks about how to make your church grow, but it does help YOU grow spiritually. These two books have really impacted my life and both are great recommendations for you to read/listen if you're looking for some deep, personal, advise in growing closer to God and really growing spiritually for both you and your family's sake.
What about Van Tracy’s performance did you like?
It was good, not great. He sometimes uses a monotone way of talk that it doesn't always convey the feeling or emotion the author really meant. But once you're in the book you get pass that and enjoy the book anyway.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
