"Richard J. Foster has 'found' the spiritual disciplines that the modern world stored away and forgot, and has excitedly called us to celebrate them." (Eugene H. Peterson, author of Leap Over a Wall)

Fulfilling LIfe

Would you consider the audio edition of Celebration of Discipline to be better than the print version?

I won't compare the audio to the print version, yes I have both and use both for different purposes. While at work I listen and during study time in a small group at church, but I also listen when it comes time to doing homework and I also read the print version.
So I like both for different and the same reasons. It all depends on whether you are visual or audio being.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Holy Spirit is always my favorite character during study because He leads us into all truth and will help me to remember. In this listen you clearly can feel the Holy Spirit showing you how to walk in these Disciplines.

What does Richard J. Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sound - and being able to apply the sound with the words, you can hear them, they don't get muddled with other books you read, because audio is personalized to the story teller.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

ReTHINK Your LIfe or

Disciplines are a necessity

Any additional comments?

In the same way we have work ethics, and morals for our personal life we really need to look at these Disciplines for our Spiritual life.

very instructional and profound.

Diferentes from other books about discipleship, this offers practical ways to become a real disciple. It doesn't represent my Wesleyan view of salvation but it increases the posibility to obtain holiness here on earth.

A must read for "every" Church Leader

Pleasantly surprised at how it ministered to me, I continue to recommend and finally I was most impacted by the subjects of meditation, fasting and worship. Narrator was pleasant to listen to.

Compelling

This is a great introduction to spiritual disciplines. It's the abridged version, so it is an overview. You would want to go through the material several times and in more depth to really dig in to any of the practices, but this is a great starting point.

The author is also the performer. He brings lots of meaning and personality to the performance, making it engaging and pleasant to listen to.

There is no story here, per se, as it is a how-to and why-to book.
