Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? Former atheist and Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel takes an investigative look at the evidence from the fields of science, philosophy, and history. In this revised and updated bestseller, The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools such as Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis, asking hard-hitting questions - and building a captivating case for Christ's divinity.

Strobel asks challenging questions like:

  • How reliable is the New Testament?
  • Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible?
  • Is Jesus who he said he was?
  • Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event?

Winner of the Gold Medallion Book Award and twice nominated for the Christian Book of the Year Award, Strobel's tough, point-blank questions read like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But it's not fiction. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure.

This edition includes scores of revisions and additions, including updated material on archaeological and manuscript discoveries, fresh recommendations for further study, and an interview with the author that tells dramatic stories about the book's impact, provides behind-the-scenes information, and responds to critiques of the book by skeptics.

Also available: The Case for Christ Spanish edition, kids' edition, and student edition.

Wow

I have always felt a barrier between Christ and myself. The desire to connect has always been there, but I've always had so much doubt. However, I have never taken the time to check the facts for myself. I've leaned all too heavy in my misunderstandings. This book called to me, and I'm glad I answered. It has impacted me, and I'll never be the same. For that, I am grateful.

excellent

I thought the book was well done. Very easy to listen to. I saw the movie that was good but it left me wanting more. the book provided all the detail in a very organized approach.

It takes too much faith to be an atheist

I have the kindle book and the audio. I would read along with the narrator. The is methodically laid out. There is so much evidence that Jesus lived, died and came back to life. I'm already a believer so this book will help me when I speak with people who don't. With this information I can speak rationally and not be preachy.

Convicted

As a former homicide detective in the nation's capital the evidence in the case for Christ is overwhelming and the only verdict a diligent investigator could render is that Jesus is the Christ and my sins were paid for in full with Christ conviction.

Easy to follow Evangelical apologetics

If you are expecting Lee Stobel's transformation story from atheist to Christian, you'll likely be disappointed in this book. But, if you're looking for replies to common ( and some not so common) questions against Christianity, from the reliably of the New Testament to the likelihood of the resurrection, you'll find plenty to like here.

Stobel does a nice job of summarizing responses from leading Evangelical scholars in an easy to follow format. But, he does not act like a skeptic nor an investigative journalist here. He fawns over the credentials and responses of his interviewees, readily accepts the views he already agrees with (he's been a pastor for 20 years by the time conducts these interviews), denigrates the people (derisively labeled as "liberals" or "left-wing Christians," would a skeptic see these labels negatively or the already converted?), dismisses the views he doesn't, and doesn't talk to any skeptic or differing opinions or interpretations of the data. He does have tough questions for his interviews, but his one-sided reporting I hope is not indicative of the state of investigative, open-minded journalism he espouses in the subtitle of the book.

Cradle Catholic finally: wow... it really happened

Sheesh, I reconciled with my church about 15 years ago and thought I was doing pretty well, but my first thought during this book was that The Way is going to be very tedious now that I actually have no wiggle room and know it to be true after all. I am praying for Grace from the Holy Spirit to help me process this profound revelation. I know I'll do it, but it's a big leap from thinking you are a Christian to actually living like one all the time. I feel as though I am beginning all over again. Good bye, childhood, hello eternal joy!

Hard to argue against

One of the best books on the reality of Christ that I have ever come across. The evidence presented here is substantial. I will be interesting to see where this leads me in my search for God.

Jump-started my faith

I can't recommend this book more highly. Although it took me a while to get used to the book's narrative format, I found the examination of the evidence truly, objectively compelling. I am now reading the Word and praying daily. I couldn't be more grateful that I decided to listen to this book.

Hollow reasoning

I was recommended this book to give the christian god another chance.

The prologue is meant to lube you up for what's to come. Mr Strobel appeals to the infallibility of the jury system and names you (that's right, you) the jury judging whether or not god the father, the son, lamb, titles, titles, the holy spirit existed. He does the good cop thing where he knows what it's like to be a skeptic. You see, he used to be one himself. And a journalist so you should trust him because he used to write what you read and believe.

The meat of the book consists of interviews with alleged experts. They are pastor emeritus, real Jesus people with master of divinity degrees that went to the university equivalent of Sunday school and are part of several dogmatic clubs related to the christian god. The author hypes them up like it's a hip hop concert with laughable accomplishments and merits. Master of divinity in new testament, fellow of the St Paul University of Biblical Baptism, quoted twice by Oprah and retweeded by the pope. Who would have thought that Christians believe in Jesus? Argument from authority.

By far the most common logical fallacy in this book is the reoccurring idea that the bible is proof rather than the claim. This makes it really hollow but the parts where he talks about crimes can be cool at times if you're into that sort of thing.

Skeptics should look elsewhere but if you're looking for a really shallow reason to turn to religion this book might get you there.

A definite read!

For those who are skeptical about the claims of Jesus or Christians, this book looks at many of the questions most people have and strives to find the truth. For those who know who Jesus was but want to gain more knowledge about the historical and factual information about his life and claims, this is also a great book. I found it easy to listen to while hearing the facts. I wondered about listening to a book that would take hours to get through but found each chapter compelling and then was ready to hear more. It will be worth your while to listen to this book no matter what you believe!
