An Excellent Overview of Christian Manliness

I’ve had this book rolling around in my head for about the last 10 years. I think it’ll be one of those books I read every year or so for the rest of my life.

excellent advice and references

listening to Facebook has helped me to see that I truly can purpose to live life for God and see his best in my life, instead of living for myself and struggling with discontent.

great pointers

New to audible, however I enjoyed the narrative of the various characters and heros of faith. Also, the simple pointers given to move one towards the direction of God's heart were relatively easy both to understand and to apply.

Good introduction, lacking in depth

Would you try another book from Jim George and/or Greg Wheatley?

Yes I would try another book from Jim George and/or Greg Wheatley. The author was true to the Bible and his advice was sound. The narration was exactly what you would expect. The cheesy 90s music is a little much in between sections, but it was a CD before it was on audible.

If you’ve listened to books by Jim George before, how does this one compare?

I have not listened to other books by Jim George.

What about Greg Wheatley’s performance did you like?

Nothing really stood out, exactly the type of narration expected for a prose account.

Could you see A Man After God's Own Heart being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

Jim George wrote an inspirational book for men who are either lost, new to the faith (as the author was already married with children when he received salvation), or are floundering at the biblical model of manhood. For those men who already take their roles as Christians, husbands, and fathers very seriously you will likely only find good reminders to keep you on the right track. I was looking for a good read to continue studying how to be a better Christian, husband, and father; I found minimal unique and life-altering advice in this 3 hour survey.
