Publisher's summary

The average length of Jesus’ conversations as recorded in the Gospels was 42 seconds long. This is good news for all of us. It frees us up to talk about the most important part of our lives in a way that’s natural, meaningful, and helpful instead of clumsy, awkward, and irrelevant.

Anyone who has spent countless uncomfortable hours walking from house to house with a clipboard or flash cards that talk about four spiritual laws understands.

Jesus’ conversations were remarkably simple. Contemporary Christian lingo has set up a dichotomy between what we call “discipleship” and “evangelism”, but the Bible doesn’t do that. Jesus had conversations all the time with those who thought they were close to God, as well as with those who deemed themselves lost and without hope. He invited all of them to come and learn from Him.

42 Seconds is a simple book that uses the ordinary moments of our lives the way Jesus used the same moments in his own. The premise is straightforward: If we can learn from Jesus how to have great conversations, it will change our lives and the lives of those around us.

It is a book of encouragement and a call to action

Moreover, In the book, the author gives us numerous examples where he had fostered a relationship among people of different backgrounds and in various situations, such as the cashier at a fast food establishment during a quick stop for some coffee, or a friend in need of guidance and a listening ear. Accordingly, He has made it a point in his life to undertake this personal challenge by considering what Jesus did in his life and ministry. For example, many of Jesus’ profound conversations with others were brief yet life altering. Opening our mouth and saying hello or asking about someone’s life in a meaningful and unhurried fashion can be difficult at times. Risking our sense of comfort in a situation where we could feel rejection is real; However, the reward for doing so overrules the gamble.
Furthermore, I recommend this book to anyone who seeks encouragement or motivation to learn a few simple ways of engaging with their neighbor and values the model Jesus left us. This blueprint leads us in a way that will leave a lasting impact.
