Be Careful! ABN Publisher Alters Reagan Speeches!!

Would you try another book from Ronald Reagan and/or Ronald Reagan?

Loved hearing the Great Communicator again!
Unfortunately, the publisher, ABN altered he & Nancy's anti-drug speech in chapter 12 to make it sound like they were pro-drug use.
This makes me wonder what other speeches or other books they have taken liberties with. If you have a book with ABN as the publisher, be warned.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Still loved how He loved America and reminded us how great it was.

What does Ronald Reagan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Unfortunately, due to chapter 12, I fear, ABN may have added or cut things from the President's speeches.

Any additional comments?

Integrity to the text is paramount when converting works into an audio format.
ABN and their employees has abused this trust. I hope they will be forced to re-produce Chapter 12 in it's correct format.

Great content- lacks context

No

Which character – as performed by the narrator – was your favorite?

Ronald Reagan

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Even his routine speeches brought me to unexpected tears.

Any additional comments?

Each speech needs an introductory statement of its date, place and context.

Very Disappointing

Any additional comments?

This book is very poorly put together. Long gaps between speeches, poor audio. This is not a professional production and my credit should be returned.

Poorly edited

I am a big fan of Ronald Reagan. I love listening to him speak. I love everything he stood for and believed in. This presentation of his speeches, however, is poorly edited.First, the sound quality in many of the speeches was disastrously poor. in this day & age when we have easy access to audio editing software that will improve and remaster old recordings, it is inexcusable that someone did not sit down and remaster these recordings. Second, there is absolutely no Rhyme or Reason that I can discern in the order of presenting speeches. The first speech is from late in the Reagan Administration. Then there is the second presidential debate in 1984 with Walter Mondale. Then there's the first debate. Then there was a fireside chat in 1982. then there's the farewell address in the 1988 Republican National Convention. It's like someone just found a bunch of Ronald Reagan recordings and slapped them into an audio file irrespective of their order or content. Last, nothing has been done to give the listener any indication as to what they are about to listen to. The recording just starts and you have to figure out by context what in the world the speech pertains to and what time frame it might have been in.

Wish the chapters were in order

Very worth listening to, I only wish the speeches were in chronological order so that you would get the overall story of his presidency. Hard to put the pieces together when the timeline bounces all over the place.

Ultimate, but in the wrong order.

I felt like I was in the audience at eash speech, though I wish they were put in the right order, starting in the 60's and ending with his farewell address. A great collection regardless. Understandable that they couldn't get footage of every speech he did as governor, President, and before that. Still, a well-done collection.

The speeches aren’t in order

The speeches are not in any kind of order. One minute Reagan is addressing a university in Russia. The next minutes he’s making an acceptance speech into the White House. It’s all over the place. There is also no intro telling you where Reagan is or anything like that, so you just have to guess which speech it is. Which was all INCREDIBLY frustrating!
I did enjoy the speeches themselves though.

Charismatic speaker

What did you like best about this story?

Ronald Reagan made you believe in America.

Any additional comments?

This could have benefitted from editing and organizing and the dubbed speech on drugs should not have been included.
