Publisher's summary

“Vintage Iacocca... He is fast-talking, blunt, boastful, and unabashedly patriotic. Lee Iacocca is also a genuine folk hero.... His career is breathtaking.” (Business Week)

He's an American legend, a straight-shooting businessman who brought Chrysler back from the brink and in the process became a media celebrity, newsmaker, and a man many had urged to run for president.

The son of Italian immigrants, Lee Iacocca rose spectacularly through the ranks of Ford Motor Company to become its president, only to be toppled eight years later in a power play that should have shattered him. But Lee Iacocca didn't get mad, he got even. He led a battle for Chrysler's survival that made his name a symbol of integrity, know-how, and guts for millions of Americans.

In his classic hard-hitting style, he tells us how he changed the automobile industry in the 1960s by creating the phenomenal Mustang. He goes behind the scenes for a look at Henry Ford's reign of intimidation and manipulation. He recounts the miraculous rebirth of Chrysler from near bankruptcy to repayment of its $1.2 billion government loan so early that Washington didn't know how to cash the check.

where is the rest of the book?

What would have made Iacocca better?

I had the cassette version in the 90's. This book has only about 15% of the content. Why don't you tell us this is only a small portion of the original version before we buy it?

Not a book

Not a book or autobiography. Looks like the cover of the book, but not a book. I feel scammed.

Misleading

Thought it was his whole autobiography for a great price. Just an hour of interviews. Dissapointed

Not the book

Very disappointed that this wasn't the actual book. Luckily I only bought it with credits, but I still feel ripped off.

Uh, why was I sold an advertisement for a book?

I read this book when it came out back in the 1980's and when I saw it advertised, I thought I would enjoy hearing Iacocca read it to me.

What I didn't realize was that this is a 55-minute advertisement for the book shown in the photo. A salesman pitches the book, a soundbite of Iacocca from the book, followed by another pitch for the book, soundbite of Iacocca reading what the salesman just told you he would cover, rinse and repeat. I got about 4 or 5 rotations of selling the book with brief Iacocca excerpts into the book, realized I had been had, and gave up.

I gave 2 stars for performance because you do get to hear Iacocca read parts of his book, but the bad review is because this really should have just been the book as advertised and not an advertisement of the book.

As Ralphie says in "A Christmas Story"..... "A crummy commercial?". Somehow, yes. Very surprised Audible is selling this.

Not the actual book

I've read the actual book several times. It's my favorite book actually. I was very disappointed that this was only two chapters. Do not waste your money. Go buy the actual book. It's great.

Without basics, you won’t get far

Great stories of lessons learned along the way and displays of true grit. It’s a must read.

NOT THE BOOK

Do not buy this, it is not the book. It is just an interview. They should remove this.
