One of the best children's books written

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. If you can't get your hands on a copy or you can't take the time to sit and read it. This audiobook is worth it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ralph's father is so full of wisdom and is just so darn good. He makes you want to be a better, harder working person. But honestly, who isn't there to love in this book? You love everyone or you love to hate someone. It's a wonderful story!

Any additional comments?

The narrator was a bit distracting when doing accents or women's voices, but still a very good performance.

Great story, not so great narration

I very much enjoyed this story of early ranching life in Colorado, but the narration was very distracting at times. Mr. Beierle's imitation of a woman's voice is just plain irritating and ridiculous. I did enjoy the story and writing though so that I do want to seek other the next book in this series and read the paper copy.

coming of age story, wonderfully written and read

Would you consider the audio edition of Father and I Were Ranchers to be better than the print version?

My boys (and girls for that mater) enjoyed listening to this while we were traveling. Cameron Beierle's deep voice adds to the text and helps you relate to Ralph and the other men in the book.

What other book might you compare Father and I Were Ranchers to and why?

Set at the turn of the century, this book has similar these or settings to Old Yeller, The Great Brain, and The Great Turkey Walk. My boys enjoy this series as much as my girls enjoy Little House on the Prairie.

Have you listened to any of Cameron Beierle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first Cameron Beierle.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are scene that we laughed about together. The ending is sad.

Most Excellent Book Series!

This is probably our favorite book series now. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life again. I would love to step back into time and meet them. I am sure I would be a better person if I could. I feel like becoming a better person from reading these books. Truly inspiring! My children beg for more after listening for hours!

It was ok

I wish a country boy would've read it of them that it was OK except for the way the chapters were done I wish they were actually lined up for chapter 1 through chapter 2.

Great book great performance

I can hardly believe that this is biographical. The Moody's were remarkable people. I think that this series is one of the best I have ever read.
