Publisher's summary

Michael Evans is only in rural St. David's to maintain a low profile after his time spent as a city cop ended in disaster. The town is perfect for him: isolated. A tiny population. Virtually no crime.

Until the night the strange canisters fall from the sky and the town priest starts killing people with his teeth. To Michael, the bloodbath looks like a murder case that the quiet town's two police officers can't possibly handle.

But this isn't just a crime scene.

And the priest is just the beginning...

I would have given it 5 stars, but.....

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. Up until right before the end, I was going to give it 5 stars. Something that I'm so tired of hearing in post apocalyptic books, is sadistic torture of women. It was just a small bit in this book, but still, it was there and it could have been left out. It brought nothing to the story.
This isn't a zombie book. It's more like "28 Days Later" except the enraged crazies rip out their eyes and then try to kill everyone.
I'll be continuing with the series, but I'll take it one book at a time. I'm a little hesitant to spend money on the next few books. So I'll be getting the next book on Kindle, since it's only an hour long audiobook. If that goes well, I'll go ahead and spend the money on audiobook 3.

Good Book; INCREDIBLE Reader

Would you listen to Panic again? Why?

I would hesitate to listen to Panic again because the excellent reader makes the experience so terrifying, I had to turn the audiobook off twice. I just could not take it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Panic?

There are so many memorable moments in Panic, I just don't know which event I would choose. If I were forced to choose, I would say the attack on a sister and brother by their mother was probably the most breathtaking.

What does Craig Beck bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

OMG! Craig Beck reads flawlessly and knows how to modulate his voice and build the terror to crescendos. The peaks are plural - Beck repeatedly builds the tension to a fever pitch. If I were just reading the book, I would skip over many unpleasant details, and I would have missed how carefully the author chose all his words. The book is very nuanced. Yes, this is an action packed zombie novel, but the author's writing and reader's reading make Panic a unique experience.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As I said before, the attack of the mother on her two adult children was most upsetting.

Any additional comments?

I will probably listen to the rest of the series, but I am not strong enough to do it right now.

Loved this approach. Will be following

This was interesting take on the end times.
It will definitely leave you on a cliffhanger and most likely wanting more as it did me.

A marvelous little family!

Canisters falling from the sky, infecting people, turning them into raging zombies. The apocalypse develops and escalates, yet little more is discussed about the canisters. Are they an alien weapon of judgment sent to reset the earth? Perhaps a malfunctioned weaponized virus delivery system went off course? Something to be reexamined later no doubt. We’re introduced to Michael Evans and the small group of survivors who will be traveling with him. Follow along as the usual string of events present. Ultimately, our survivors come upon a potential savior as they run for their lives through the forest. Savior or oppressor? Three.point.five for potential. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Bio Warfare and Zombie like human.

This was a gripping story with some elements of gore. Just the right amount to gross you out without going to far. I enjoyed this story very much. If you like zombie type stories you won't be disappointed.

Not Impressed

There were parts of this book that were ok. It had potential to be a really good story. However, I was very put off by certain parts of the book. In particular, the "bad guy" throughout the book didn't seem to have a real point in this story. He came in, caused lots of problems and then was gone just a suddenly. I didn't understand his place in this book.
