Publisher's Summary

From 1949 to 1957, Dragnet pioneered new levels of realism on radio. Every crime investigated by Sergeant Joe Friday was taken from the actual case files of the Los Angeles Police Department, with only "the names changed to protect the innocent". This collection features five episodes of the classic series:Big Girl (2/9/1950)
Big Kill (3/2/1950)
Big Thank You (3/9/1950)
Big Boys (3/16/1950)
Big Watch (4/3/1950)
These broadcasts feature multi-layered sound effects; the actors used accurate police lingo, abbreviations, and penal codes; and the show didn't shy away from stories about heinous crimes or that had unhappy endings. Created and produced by Jack Webb, Dragnet was much more than "just the facts".
Fact: you can download more collected volumes of Dragnet or pick up individual episodes.

Critic Reviews

"By far the most popular police/crime program of all time. It enjoyed enormous success on radio." (Jon David Swartz and Robert C. Reinehr, Handbook of Old-Time Radio)

A collection of radio episodes

Any additional comments?

Jack Webb has a very recognizable voice, he is the voice of Dragnet. I listened to rebroadcasts of these episodes with my Grandma on late night radio. The tales are true stories with names changed to protect the innocent.

Each collection will appear in your library as individual titles, not as a collection. When you review each episode it will only appear on the individual downloads, not on this collection. If that bothers you then look at purchasing the individual episodes instead. In the Audible app this will show as 1 book for earning badges, but as 5 books in the My Library area.
If you want reviews from other listeners to validate your purchase decision then you will need to look at individual titles and not the collections. Weird, I know.

Dragnet is amazing because the crimes aren't different than they are today, just new technology to help both criminal and officer. No cell phones in Dragnet, dimes are used to pay for phone calls - even on private phones. Each episode is about 30 minutes, quick listens and great for short commutes or waiting lines.
