Publisher's Summary

This collection of the Adventures of Nero Wolfe contains five episodes of the classic radio series: Case of the Party for Death (2/16/1951)
Case of the Malevolent Medic (2/23/1951)
Case of the Hasty Will (3/2/1951)
Case of the Disappearing Diamonds (3/9/1951)
Case of the Midnight Ride (3/16/1951) These programs feature Nero Wolfe, a character who made his name in 46 novels, movies, and a television series. His first appearance on radio was April 7, 1943. The great character actor Sydney Greenstreet played Wolfe from 1950-51. The "gargantuan gourmet" solved crimes with an attention to detail that rivaled the great Sherlock Holmes. The overweight detective of Rex Stout's novels refused to leave his elegant brownstone on business, sending his wisecracking, two-fisted assistant Archie Goodwin out to do his legwork. This peculiar private investigator preferred tending to his beloved orchids over solving crimes. In fact, the only reason he worked at all was to keep up his lavish lifestyle.

Rex Stout could not possibly have approved these

Nero Wolfe is a lecher who drinks beer out a can and belches like a sailor. Archie is after every skirt in the boroughs and Nero Wolfe thinks that's the funniest thing ever. The narrator who I think so little of I cannot even remember his name, speaks Nero with a nasal tone that sounds like a bad cold and Archie with a broad Bronx honking sound. Fritz only showed up once in the adventures I've listened to, and that time, only with Nero bellowing to him to get the car because Archie is in trouble. And to top it off, during Nero's grand recap of the case, he turns to Archie to explain it. I can't believe Stout approved these but he must have. He died in 1975. These monstrosities come from the 20's. Maybe he was really strapped for funds. Whatever the case, this is not Nero Wolfe.
