Publisher's summary

Despite the advent of science and technology that helps us understand the "hows" and the "whys" of things, the universe still offers a colossal variety of mysteries that humans are still yet to explore and understand.

From the existence of aliens, to mythological creatures like mermaids, dragons, and fairies, we cannot be certain if any of these are true. However, we must keep in mind that what science can't explain is probably something that is still unfamiliar and undiscovered.

This book will give you a good chunk of our world's, and the universe's, mysteries, unsolved and solved. The world and the universe hold a vast collection of mysteries that our minds and even science can't explain. Though science is powerful, there are things that are not covered in its scope.

From strange creatures and unearthly beings to unexplained paranormal events, the bizarre will always capture our imagination.

Interestingly enough, the mysterious and the unknown are often the most thought-provoking. They remind us that there are many things in the world that are left to be discovered and many more things that we do not understand.

Great paranormal resource

I got this and listened to it right away. It reminds me of those old Time-Life Paranormal books, as it is filled with a lot of notable places and events that deal with the otherwordly. I also appreciate that it does debunk when it needs to, and doesn't try to present every event as paranormal.

It also is reminiscent of Darkness Radio and Jim Harold's Campfire Stories, so if you like those podcasts, this is for you. Roy Lunel is an excellent reader, and his narration keeps your attention (Think Leonard Nimoy's voice over for In Search Of . . .). His voice is pleasant and you can easily listen to him from start to finish, and not even realize how much time has passed.

I appreciate how Hunter breaks everything down. He explains the phenomena, and then goes into encounters, area effects, history, etc. A lot of detail in a concise format. A great resource for those interested in the arcane.

Enjoyable

Any additional comments?

Enjoyable and easy to listen to. The audio-book contained more stories than expected. Of which, several were new to me and some I've heard or read about before, like about the "Nazca Lines" for instance.

The recording includes the following chapters:
Chapter 01 - The Mapimí Silent Zone
Chapter 02 - The YOGTZE case
Chapter 03 - Gates to Hell
Chapter 04 - The Mysteries of Mount Shasta
Chapter 05 - Cicada 3301
Chapter 06 - The Dingonek
Chapter 07 - Buff Ledge Alien Abduction
Chapter 08 - The Green Children of Woolpit
Chapter 09 - Naszcar Lines
Chapter 10 - Strange Death in the Ural Mountains

Easy to listen to due to the pleasant voice and tone of the narrator.
Possible explanations at the end of the chapters are a big plus.

Definitely worth a listen, even if you have heard or read about several of these stories before.

Unexplained???

I have only heard of one of these and that is the one I Peru.
I love the unexplainable mystery. And trying to figure out the how and why is exciting especially when you yourself unknowingly follow a ghost. You go back and can't explain what happen.
I would love to read more from this author. The narrator did an awesome job.

I was not in love with this

I was asked for an unbiased review of this title.

I enjoy a good paranormal story, but I think I've moved on from the "true crime/true ghost stories" type genre (think Unsolved Mysteries) or these did not grab me in the right way. I was somewhat uncomfortable because I felt like to believe these I had to suspend disbelief in a way that wasn't working for me. They sort of struck me as more like conspiracies and that made me uncomfortable.

Intersting

I hadn't heard any of these before, so found the book very interesting. It's a subject I find intriguing, and I am looking forward to listening to more from this author

The narrator had the perfect voice for this type of book

Interesting Paranormal Stories!

Great narration! Fun stories! I really enjoyed listening to this. My only criticism was the section on the Gates of Hell missed a lot of places. Maybe in another volume? If so, I’m buying it!!
