Publisher's summary

Disturbing legends of unexplained phenomena, ghastly true ghost stories and true paranormal hauntings.

Do you sometimes feel like a pair of eyes are staring at you constantly in the middle of the night? Or do you sense some strange and warm touch of air that you can't explain to anyone? Maybe, sometimes, you're not alone, even if you think that you are.

History has many disturbing episodes that few of us would care to experience ourselves. So many of these stories are sad but true. Sometimes, after such incidents, dark and evil energies remain in these places of horror for decades to come, haunting all that come near.

Unfortunately, if you're not lucky enough, things can be even worse than this. Even if a house has no stain from its past, it can still become the doorway to hell. Do you know the history of your house, or the history of the land on which your house is built?

Some energies can't move on because they are unable to leave the tragic past behind, and this is when terror strikes. This book has a compilation of many terrifying incidents that researchers consider extremely paranormal.....

Here is a preview of what you'll learn:

  • A Corpse Eating Demon Might Knock you Down
  • Don't Listen to the Door Knocks in the Middle of the Night
  • No one Understood What Happened to the Poltergeist Girl
  • Unbelievable Evidence of Anna Ecklund's Demonic Possession
  • A Dead Lady Lived in the Cole Adams House
  • Look Out for the White Death in Mexico
  • The Indestructible Tree - Witness to Many Gruesome Murders
  • Much more!

Educational and entertaining!

This short book contains information about documented cases of the paranormal. Here’s a list of most of the subjects covered in this book:

A Corpse Eating Demon Might Knock you Down
Don’t Listen to the Door Knocks in the Middle of the Night
No one Understood What Happened to the Poltergeist Girl
Unbelievable Evidence of Anna Ecklund’s Demonic Possession
A Dead Lady Lived in the Cole Adams House
Look Out for the White Death in Mexico
The Indestructible Tree – Witness to Many Gruesome Murders
I don’t believe in ghost stories so, for me, this was a collection of interesting and gruesomely entertaining tales. I did appreciate that the author went to pains to find documented examples, such as incidents that included police reports and independent eye witness accounts.

While several of the stories are set in the US, the author does take us around the world to Ireland, central Europe, and Japan. The Cole Adams house had a nice family living in it that experienced several odd to scary events, including repeated sightings of a decrepit female corpse. Then there was poor Anna Ecklund who reportedly suffered from demonic possession. I believe her story is set in the 1850s. I found it especially interesting how many people were involved in her tale and left records of her condition. There was her family, her neighbors, and the local priests and nuns. Anna, like several of the other women who are the center of the paranormal events in this book, was reportedly sexually molested.

The author then takes us to the Ballygally Castle, which is now a hotel, in Ireland. Lady Shaw is a friendly but sad ghost. Then on to Eleanor Zugen, a Romanian lass, who was placed in an asylum and then later taken to a psychological/psychic studies institute. I found her case interesting, because again, so many people documented the case, which involved some very odd injuries to Eleanor. The author then takes us to Japan and the corpse eating demon. This was one of my favorites because it is more folklore than paranormal investigations. The jikininki of Japan aren’t attracted to live humans or animals and confine themselves to eating corpses, which is disgusting and can be a nuisance.

Then the book takes us back to North America and the White Death in Mexico, which happens to be an angry child that kills people. Next was poor Terricita Basa who was murdered at age 48 and her murderer was not captured immediately. A friend channeled her spirit and assisted police in finding the murderer. Then on to the most disturbing story of the book: Bobby Mackey’s Music World in Tennesse. The site was initially a slaughterhouse in the 1800s. Over time it became an establishment for refreshments and fun. When country music star Bobby Mackey bought it in the 1970s, he was unaware of it’s sordid history of the slaughter house and murder. Finally, we end with an old oak tree in Florida that pays witness to horrible acts.

All together, it was a quick interesting listen. I think it would be a useful resource for those who either want to research deeper into documented paranormal events or for those who want write horror novels.

I received a copy of this book at no cost from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.

Narration: Eddie Leonard Jr. did a pretty good job. He does repeat a few sentences and stumbles over a few words, but, admittedly, one of those was a very tricky last name. He has a good voice for the audiobook, being somewhere between a news reporter and a story-telling cousin.

Good Short Collection of Haunted Stories

As a fan of all things haunting, I really enjoyed these brief looks into paranormal stories. As typical with collections like these, some are well known and others are more obscure. This definitely contained more unfamiliar than familiar stories which is something I don’t get to say often with anthologies like these. I like how they were from all over the world and spanned a wide timeline.

In general this was a good mix of paranormal stories. The stories span a long enough time that some of the more recent stories involve places you can still go visit, something I was looking into while listening. There were a few like, Bobby Mackey’s Music World, which while interesting, have been documented so many times I feel like adding them to any collection is unnecessary. Some of the stories told just enough information, some didn’t tell nearly enough, and others seemed to be more anecdotal than a real story.

The narrator did a good job. The editing wasn’t perfect as there were some repeated sentences, but nothing that isn’t easily overlooked. Since this is told as a matter of fact story and doesn’t involve characters I was quite happy with the narration.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

scary stories

The stories are scary, just a little bare bones. If a little more detail was given it would be a very enjoyable book. Some lines repeated in the audio addition. Maybe that could be corrected also. I received this for free for an honest review.

A Disturbing and Unnerving Listen

This is a collection of nine stories that cannot be explained. The stories told are:

1) The Adams House - The Demon of Detroit (US)
2) Anna Eckland's Demonic Possession (US)
3) Don't Listen to Door Knocks in the Middle of the Night (Ballygally Castle Hotel) (Ireland)
4) No One Understood What Happened to the Poltergiest Girl (Romania)
5) Corpse Eating Demon Might Knock You Down (Jikininki) (Japan)
6) White Death in Mexico (Mexico)
7) Terisita Basa (US)
8) Bobby Mackey's Music World (US)
9) The Indestructible (Devil's) Tree

The events and stories told within this book are disturbing and unnerving with no obvious explanation to why these things happen. Whether you believe or not this is an interesting and creepily entertaining listen. The narration was good for the most part. I did count four times where the narrator, Eddie Leonard Jr, duplicated a phrase but it didn't really distract from the overall enjoyment.

Spooky way to pass the time

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The stories in this collection, while not terrifying, are somewhat disturbing. There has been a lot of research done on the events, and the chapters give a good overview. I believe each chapter could have encompassed an entire book. The narration was well done, and while the narrator is obviously reading the printed page, he does lend a certain air of mystery to the stories. My main complaints are the repeated sentences. There are several throughout this book. It's a bit jarring, and had me wondering if the download was bad, but that wasn't the case. It's a good break in between meatier books, at only an hour, and for a person who is heavily into the paranormal, worth the time to listen.

An hour + of good ghost stories

This book is a little over an hour. Just long enough for a good short listen. The stories are true ghost and paranormal stories. This book contains a variety of stories. The narration was very good. I would listen to another book narrated by Eddie Leonard Jr. He has a good voice for this type of book.

Better off listening to Paranormal podcasts

Poorly presented, with little info on each story, and no data regarding any investigations. Just more pabulum for the masses without any follow-through. Boring and a waste of time.

Some Great Haunts

Anna Elkin's story. A child said to be possessed by 7 demons and spirits of dead family members. She was said to be set up to be the host by her Aunt and her own father. She had 2 exorcisms, find out if they worked.

Coal Adam's house that had the demon bedroom and more than just a skeleton in the closet there. The story is also known as the Detroit Demon. Find out what was in the house and who suffered from it.

Bally Gally, the haunted hotel in Ireland that was built in 1625 and said to have many spirits living within the walls. Fund out what's haunting more then just the people that work there.

Elinor was known as, The Poltergeist Girl, because of all the things that would happen around her. Things would happen to her, her family & anyone around her at the wrong time. Things being thrown around, rocks falling from the sky & way more! I'm pretty sure her basics were used as the character in a couple diff. horror movies. Do you know what movies?

Learn about the Japanese myth of the corpse eating ghost. It is known to actually freeze people in fear that catch a look at it. Find out who has seen it! (this story did have a sentence repeated in it in the edits)

Hear about the White Death of Mexico ghost girl. Find out why she is a ghost and why she's a vengeful spirit. Who does she like to hunt down to kill?

Learn about a womans spirit that comes back from the dead to help police find her murderer. (this story also had a sentence or 2 repeated it)

A famous place that has been on serveral Ghost hunting shows and told about every Halloween it's name is, Bobby Mackey's Music House. It is said to hold the well to hell in it's basement and clearly isn't happy to have woman there that are expecting. Find out why!

The Devils Tree, is an old oak tree which is said can not be cut down. Find out what makes this tree an unwelcome shade!

The narrator did a good job giving the spooky vib in his reading keeping his voice low and calm through the whole book. A few mistakes, but that could be an editing mistake & not the narrators.

PERFECT STORIES FOR HALLOWEEN OR PLACE TO VISIT FOR HALLOWEEN.

I DO RECOMMEND this book.
I do recommend the narrator.

I was given this book for free at my request and I have given my honest review on my own without request.
