Publisher's summary

In this study, Fromm argues that man needs to analyze his unconscious thoughts, his dreams, and his conscious fantasies, as they reflect a universal and symbolic representation of himself.

Fromm at full steam

Dabbling in psychoanalysis and literary interpretation, this is a must read for anyone interested in understanding (not interpreting) dreams and symbols, and includes a broad explanation of terms and thoughtful insight into the powerful wisdom of the world of the unconscious mind. The closing chapter on a Kafka masterpiece is worth the many hours of listening to this narrator (who could have also played Doug in the animated film 'Up')- the only drawback was that this narrator sounded like Alan Alda without the dynamic spark that would have made this reading stand out: a great attempt nevertheless

Meh!

Other Fromm books have been thoroughly enjoyable and definitely gave food for thought. this one in particular in my opinion spent quite a bit of time discussing Freud and Jung theories.

I rather return it and get my money back
