Publisher's Summary

Since World War II, economists have struggled to understand the Keynesian Revolution and to apply its lessons to the modern economy. The heart of the debate over Keynes' radical ideas has been whether they could or should be reconciled with the older, neoclassical economic theory. Post Keynesians have insisted that the traditional belief in free markets cannot accommodate the dynamic and complex modern economic world. Neoclassical Synthesists accept Keynesian arguments for short-term economic consequences, but they believe that free markets still achieve the best long-term results.

Clear but painfully short description of Keynes...

A refreshing review of many of things I was supposed to have learned about Keynes in macro economics at university years ago. The basic ideas of Keynes are contrasted with the social Darwnists. A good short refresher for the non-major. However, I would like to see it deal a bit more with the downsides, and actual results.

Great series

If you are interested in economics this is one book of a great series narrated primarily by the late, great Louis Rukeyser of the PBS series Wall $treet Week. It is good to hear his voice again. It is 2 hours and 18 minutes, which was not too long and not too short for me. This one describes the various versions of Keynesian economics. This is a timely topic in today's economic difficulties and the Keynesians are a big part of the debate.
