First introduced to Kasich by his faith biopic, "Every Other Monday", I was intrigued by his candidacy for the 2016 Presidential election. Based on these cogent, coherent views, I like this man. He seems like a great citizen and an even better man. The kind of guy I would spend time with regularly. A long round of golf with him would be a great afternoon of substantive conversation. In the same time it takes to play a round of golf, the listener can be informed by this "Everyman Intellectual With Substance and Character."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I reluctantly downloaded this book, as I am an Ohio educator and licensed school superintendent who was not a supporter of Governor Kasich, but I felt it was necessary to have an opinion based on fact.

After listening to this book, I understand “how we got to this point,” and I now realize that difficult and unpopular decisions must be made in Ohio. Governor Kasich’s political affiliations are no longer the first thing I think of when I hear his name. John Kasich, the man, as presented in this book, is an inspiring and admirable individual.
What other book might you compare Stand for Something to and why?
A book I might write someday, and the John Mellencamp song, Stand for Something.
What about John Kasich’s performance did you like?
I liked Mr.Kasich’s ability to connect the people and experiences in his life to the lessons they taught him in a way that enabled me to relate to him as a human being.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Kasich shared that each and every one of us has a special gift and that it falls to each and every one of us to unwrap those gifts and share them with the rest of the world. Gifts are like stars, none are quite the same, and we find them in our friends and families, in ourselves, and in our leaders. Discover your own gifts, and you will give your life new meaning. Find the courage to share those gifts with the rest of us, and you will give all of our lives new meaning. It is in the putting to good use of our unique gifts that we will rediscover our health and strength as a nation. Become a part of something bigger than yourself--throw in with all the other stars in your community. If you see something happening that sets you off, rise up-- do something about it-- stand for something.
Any additional comments?
Kasich encourages us to take action as individuals in order to make a difference in the world. Even if you do not agree with his politics, you will probably agree with his stance that all have the right to respectfully express their beliefs, and a responsibility to take a public stand and to fight for what they truly believe is right.
