Reassessing Racism

Where does Race Matters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the best (top 5).

What other book might you compare Race Matters to and why?

I would not compare this to other books, it seems Dr. West was attempting to survey the current outlook on racism. I am not familiar with other books that share equal scope.

Have you listened to any of Cornel West’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to his discussions and debates, and I must say, his conversation and writing are both eloquent and unassuming.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

I think the most interesting tidbit was the references to other authors that have influenced Dr. West. In particular, I was introduced to the author Toni Morrison, of which I look forward to reading.

Any additional comments?

This is a great book and Dr. West's book deserves serious consideration. A must read.

- Roger Albarran,

For me, a white male conservative, I found the book to be fantastic. Thought provoking, logical, and thoughtful. I'd like to see a Professor West lecturer in person. Even with different economic opinions I though his ideas on race are very poignant in today's world.
