Publisher's summary

Glenn Beck, number-one best-selling author and radio host, reveals the cold truth behind the ideology of progressivism and how the tenets of this dangerous belief system are eroding the foundation of this country.

Why do we accept the lies?

Politics is no longer about pointing to a shining city on the hill; it's about promising you a shiny new car for your driveway. The candidate who tells the people what they want to hear is usually the one who wins - facts be damned.

Politicians may be sleazy and spineless, but they're not stupid. They see that the way to win is by first telling people everything that is wrong with the world and then painting a vision of the life they want - a Utopian vision that they'll create right here on earth, one where no one is ever sick or hungry, jobless, or homeless. All we have to do is surrender our freedom and someone else's wallet, and they'll make it happen.

And so they continue to lie, and we continue to believe them, and they keep winning elections.

The only way to break the cycle is to understand why Americans fall for the deception over and over again. In Liars, number-one best-selling author and nationally syndicated radio host Glenn Beck reveals the startlingly simple answer: fear. At our most basic level, we're all afraid of something. Progressives from both parties exploit this by first pointing out the things we should be afraid of and then offering us "solutions" to these fears. Solutions that always require us to give up our freedoms. Solutions that are based on two things: lies and an unrelenting hunger for power and control.

In his signature no-holds-barred way, Beck destroys the false promises of Progressivism and takes us through its history, showing how each "wave" built up on the one before it, ultimately washing up to the beach in the form of Barack Obama - and whoever is next.

Presented within an excellent historical context.

Fabulous book. It was put together very well.
I just wish GB would narrate his books.

It's been a long time

I think I am beginning to understand the roots and mechanics of the progressive movement. This book leaves no doubt in my mind, from the very beginning of the country, the first real attempt at liberty, the progressives have been working very diligently to destroy it. The progressives have been smarter, more organized, more dedicated, and willing to accept nearly any consequence for their agenda. This book is a warning and a call for all true constitutional conservatives. We need to understand the mind of the progressive if we ever how to beat it.

Amazing stories you've never heard

Glenn pulls the stories out of the past from the progressives version of the founding fathers. There were quite a few "end results" that you now learn the origins, like prohibition.
The most fascinating part to me was how disgusting of a person LBJ was.

Hope

I hope that people with get over their perceptions of certain people, and read or listen to this book. And thru honestly listening to the facts, and thru personal research, realize that if we don't start doing something different as a country, we will find ourselves living in the utopian paradise that progressives have been trying, and succeeding, to get us to as a country. And we will wake up to a living hell of zero freedom over our very lives and families.

Everyone in America should read this if they live this count

It is astonishing how America has been led down a path controlled by others that are more concerned with power than the people. I can see how good people are just trying to survive while innocently going through the motions of life, while more sinister people are getting away with stealing our freedoms away, as we think everything is ok. As this book describes how a movement wants to make fun of those who believe in God. We need to realize that God is the one who will help make us strong enough to remove these terrible people from their power. God will be the real strength in the end and we need to turn to him so he can help us receive the America that God intended it to be. I can see that we shall not fear if we do this. And these people shall not win in the end. The answer is to turn to God. They are afraid that we will that's why they want to destroy the faith of Americans. Thank you Glen Beck for writing this book.

Eye Opener

No big surprises in this book except for . . . Well, you will have to decide what is surprising. I look at it this way. Anything that I am forced to do even if it is a good thing takes away my freedom of choice. No one should have the power to make my choices for me. Let me make my own choices, even if they are stupid. You make stupid choices too, and anyone who makes the kind of choices you make in your own life should jolly well not be allowed to make mine for me. ("You" is not everyone, but "you" know who you are.)

Calling a spade a spade

It's disheartening sometimes to think about the people making a living taking advantage of others. But if must be done, I prefer to hear it from Glenn Beck.
