Publisher's Summary

Yuval Noah Harari, author of the best-selling Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, envisions a not-too-distant world in which we face a new set of challenges. Now, in Homo Deus, he examines our future with his trademark blend of science, history, philosophy and every discipline in between.
Homo Deus explores the projects, dreams and nightmares that will shape the 21st century - from overcoming death to creating artificial life. It asks the fundamental questions: where do we go from here? And how will we protect this fragile world from our own destructive powers?
This is the next stage of evolution. This is Homo Deus. War is obsolete. You are more likely to commit suicide than be killed in conflict. Famine is disappearing. You are at more risk of obesity than starvation. Death is just a technical problem. Equality is out - but immortality is in. What does our future hold?

Disappointing follow up to "Sapiens"

Would you try another book from Yuval Noah Harari and/or Derek Perkins?

Yes

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Don't think I got that far.

What three words best describe Derek Perkins’s voice?

Over 2 very long books it was still pleasant to hear him.

Could you see Homo Deus being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No idea

Any additional comments?

"Sapiens" was remarkable and a difficult book to follow.

You get one thing out of this: insight

Very much the continuation of his other book the Sapiens, Harrari takes you from the realm of what was to what could be. Even though it's filled with facts and descriptions of scientific experiments, the main frame is very much a story. With a captivating language the author takes you to think about very fundamental issues while being utterly entertained. This is a story worth your time in this age of rapid changes and mindless trends.
