The author's stated objective of clarifying the complicated is bolstered by the performance of Phoebe Simon, whose clear articulation of section breaks and headings gives this audiobook an accessibility from which Obamacare’s 2,572-page tome could probably benefit.
Beating Obamacare by Betsy McCaughey, Ph.D. is the straightforward, practical guide to navigating Obamacare that every individual and family needs to own. This guide will tell you exactly what to expect, what’s changing, and how much it will cost you and your family.
In Beating Obamacare, Dr. McCaughey unravels:
The Obamacare Law timeline: find out when each provision of the law goes into effect, so you won’t be caught by surprise
The Obamacare winners” and losers:” who gets a free ride, and who has to pay more, so you can make sure you protect your money and get the best quality of care
The most controversial part of this new law
The Individual Mandate: what does it mean for the individual patient? How will it change your care?
The new health insurance exchange landscape: how to find the best deal available
The expansion of Medicaid and downsizing of Medicare: ensure your future care or the care of your elderly loved ones
The 20 new taxes/tax hikes that will affect you: don’t let them sneak up on your family budget
And much more
Intimidated by the legal jargon? Not to worry, this guide comes fully equipped with the Obamacare Glossary in the back! Beating Obamacare is the essential consumer guide to understanding and preparing for one of the biggest changes about to take over Americans’ health care and family budgets.

Complicated issue - explained in depth
Would you listen to Beating Obamacare again? Why?
The ACA is a monster of a law and "Beating Obamacare..." attempts to go through the law, not only showing how different parts of the law interact with other laws, but gives specific details about how this law will impact people. These details are not found anywhere else that I have found.
The narration is good and maybe it is the subject matter that drags it down just a little bit but overall it stays interesting if you want to know what it is all about.
The author presents the book as not being slanted for or against the law but, it gives the impression of the author being against the law. This is fine though because what comes out very clear is the facts of what you will learn about the law that no one else will tell you. On that issue alone I recommend this to EVERYONE.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Beating Obamacare?
Learning about the intricacies of the law that I have not seen anywhere else or that are just now starting to dribble out to the American people.
What does Phoebe Simon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is consistent in her reading. It is a tough subject and she holds her own.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not something I think anyone could listen to in one sitting because of the depth of the information.
