Publisher's summary

The real nightmare starts when her daughter is returned....

A bone-chilling psychological thriller that will suit fans of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Daughter by Jane Shemilt, and The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.

A girl is missing. Five years old, taken from outside her school. She has vanished, traceless. The police are at a loss; her parents are beyond grief. Their daughter is lost forever, perhaps dead, perhaps enslaved. But the biggest mystery is yet to come: one week after she was abducted, their daughter is returned. She has no memory of where she has been. And this, for her mother, is just the beginning of the nightmare.

Great except for shouting

I loved this story but there were several parts the narrator shouted to tell the listeners about how the characters were calling out for help or otherwise. It was unnecessary and really annoying

Loved this

I absolutely loved this book. I had an idea towards the middle of the book as to who did what. But, wasn't completely sure. I ended up being correct in what I thought. But, wasn't 100% until the end.

Grabbed my attention and held on!

What an amazing story!! I wish all psychological thrillers held my attention like this one. You'll hold your breath many times and you won't figure it out until the end. Well worth the money. I listened to the whole book in a day and have a really clean house!! 😀😀😀

Good story. Mind numbing descriptions

The story is excellent but the author goes on and on with descriptions or on tangents unrelated to the plot. Fortunately the story was strong enough to keep me listening through the mind numbing moments. I enjoyed the book but can't say I will seek more title by this author.

It Was Obviously Predictable

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I would say yes, because the narrator made such a huge difference for the story. Without the narrator, the story wouldn't be so great. She gave life to the story.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting aspect of the story was being able to see the disaster of Julia's marriage. I was very sympathetic to her circumstances even when it was not relate-able.

Which scene was your favorite?

The very end when she had to tear apart her hand to get out of the Priest hole.

Do you think After Anna needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't be interested in reading a second book but if there was a book. I should probably be a back story of Etna and what triggered her physiological behavior.

Any additional comments?

The story was ok, I really wish the Author could have wrote the story in the way were it wasn't obvious who culprit was. That was the most disappointing part of the whole book. But overall was a good story. I rooted for Julia throughout the story. She was in so many obstacles. That was really strong.

Haunting

Oh Julia.. I felt for this poor woman throughout the book. The idea of losing one of my children, even if only for a few minutes, is enough to make my heart race and my stomach drop. It's a fear that every mother knows. My anxiety was out the roof as I listened as Julia took blow after blow. I can't really say much without spoiling the story, but I think one reason this book shook me so much is because every bit of it could totally happen in real life.
Gripping story, great character development, and good attention to detail. Has some lulls here and there but overall it was a good book.

Excellent!

What a sharp twisted treat. Just enough mystery to keep you guessing right to the end. Hope there's a sequel!

Good not great

I thought the novel was well written and the narration was great. My only dislike would be it was slightly predictable. That being said I would definitely recommend!
