Speculator entertains and makes you think

Great story. Very hard to put down.
The characters were all exceedingly well described and I am really in a hurry to see where the author goes with them, as the series continues.
Please don't make us wait too long Mr. Casey.
You have a great talent for describing the world that exists beneath the perceptions of those who think that reading the newspaper is the way to know what is going on in the world.

Prefer My Casey Undiluted

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The fictional narrative in this book is strictly a delivery device for Casey's Libertarian/Austrian philosophy and his worldview. Which I agree with for the most part. But, when you start with what will be a largely indigestible message to many and try to build a thriller around it, you're almost invariably going to end up with a paint-by-numbers story with wooden characters. The product will be further diluted if, at the outset, you've decided that this will be a series and not a standalone novel. I think it's Casey's plan to write one book dealing with each of Block's Undefendibles. I'll take my Casey straight, in dirty glass.

My Favorite Modern Fiction Book

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's pace was perfect and I was on the edge of my seat. It is well narrated. It is rare that I listen to a book in such a short time.

The libertarian commentary might be off putting for some but I enjoyed it and at times it was implemented in a comical way.

I don't recall learning so much from a fictional book before. I learned some things about anatomy, speculation, mining companies, and found myself googling concepts I was unfamiliar with. It is the first time I encountered the term "Gamma Male".

there's more here than meets the eye

Loved the story...Had I not followed Mr. Casey for many years, I would have dismissed this as simple fiction. However, the benefit of context makes this a wonderful teaching aid. I am impressed overall. I enjoyed listening and would love to repeat, this time together with my son.

Best novel series of this generation.

Each one of these books are the best novel since Atlas Shrugged. Can't wait for Assassin to come out on Audible.

Fantastic story and great narrator!

This book definitely exceeded my expectations. I love how well it blended deep economic and political themes with rich characters and a lot of action and intrigue. It was both entertaining and educational all the way to the end.

Sex, guns, gold, politics, money, and most importantly, great philosophy!.....what's not to like?

I've listened to a lot of books on audible, but this is the first one that I was truly sad when it was finished. I can't wait for the next one.

Props to the narrator too, I never had to guess what character was speaking. Multi-accent, multi-tone, great job!

Highly recommend to everyone, but I think freedom loving/liberty minded individuals/investors who reject collectivism will enjoy it most!

Cheers!

Thrilling & Educational

I thoroughly enjoyed SPECULATOR. I went on the read (listen) to the other 2 Highground novels featuring Charles Knight. DRUG LORD and the 3rd of the series ASSASSIN.
Great to have history, science, finance and politics woven thru and exciting story line. I hear a 4th book is in the making… TERRORIST. I wonder what Charles Knight will be up to next. Thank you Doug Casey and John Hunt. Special thanks to narrator John Pruden for a job well done!

Good narrator... Atlas shrugged stereotypes

Couldn't get into this. The characters are all binary evil or good. This is a rather long letter to the editor complaining about the IRS. I made it to the third rant of "taxes bad, investers good" before giving up on whatever story is left.

Speculator is an excellent realistic story

Doug Casey showed very well dirty and dishonest people we must avoid!
Very interesting book for people speculating with the market stocks and puts, gives deeper understanding of government corruption fictitious here but happens all the time in real life.
