Publisher's Summary

A chilling thriller from Sunday Times best-selling author Karen Rose.
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Who'll be next? No one knows....
When forensic pathologist Lucy Trask stumbles across a mutilated body with its face so badly damaged it is unrecognisable by the chess tables in her local Baltimore park, her sole concern is that it might be her old school teacher Mr Pugh. When the corpse is identified, Lucy is shocked to discover that the victim is actually another man from her past. Who killed him and why his skin is burnt with the number '1' is unclear, but it's evident that someone is demanding Lucy's attention.
The discovery of a second branded body raises worrying questions: How many more lives may be at risk before the killer's final message is revealed? And can Lucy solve the killer's gruesome puzzle before their thirst for revenge is complete?

think twice

Would you try another book from Karen Rose and/or Liza Ross?

I dont mind the author. The narration was terrible!!. She was supposed to be portraying a young woman and she came off sounding like Betty White - was not suitable for this story . She is probably a great narrator but not for this style of story- completely wrecked it for me. . Seriously thought about stopping as it was almost unbearable

Would you recommend You Belong to Me to your friends? Why or why not?

No unfortunately. Not on audiobook anyway

What didn’t you like about Liza Ross’s performance?

She was quavery, too slow in the wrong places. It sounded like she was reading this story for the first time. She had no feel for where a sentence was ending or whether people were angry, sad etc. I'm sorry to be bagging her as I dont know her but she was so wrong for this book - I was really disappointed. First time it has happened so maybe I am going overboard.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story had potential. The fact I enjoyed that is the only reason I persevered

Any additional comments?

Listen to sample before buying- it could be painful if you dont.

Another winner for Karen Rose

If you could sum up You Belong to Me in three words, what would they be?

I am loving these Karen Rose audiobooks! She is able to strike the right balance between thriller and romance and usually has a twist at the end that you don't see coming. I only allow myself to listen when I'm exercising so getting into shape as there are so many good bits I can't wait to hear! Thanks Karen! I also enjoyed the the narration by Liza Ross, which is saying something as sometimes the narrator's voice is so distracting you have difficulty concentrating on the book. All in all, loved it.

Hated it, couldn't finish it. Baled out.

The narration was horrible. The narrator had a pleasant American accent which went into a Thatcherite drone when narrating a male character and a high pitched sing song for female characters which made my flesh crawl. The lead character, a professional woman in a tough job sounded like she was in an audition for My Little Pony The Movie. Just awful. I struggled even beginning to care about any of the characters. Others have given this book good reviews but I just couldn't get past the narration. I found the characters shallow and quite clichéd.

Off putting Narrator

The story was so so, a lot of parts were very child-like in my opinion where everything needed to be spelled out. Felt like I was being talked to like an idiot

Also the narrator was terrible! She may have been great for a young child's book but not for this. If I wasnt a sucker who has an unstoppable urge to get to the end of every story I start no matter how bad, i would not have been able to sit through this one.

All in all, very disappointing.
