Publisher's summary

Zara Riddle moved to a small town so her life could be quiet and safe. But now that her witch powers have kicked in, life is anything but. Long-lost relatives are coming out of the woodwork, and it turns out the family tree is riddled with magic.

When a ghost shows up, Zara finds out her Spirit Charmed powers come with a cost. She must solve the woman's murder. Zara teams up with her handsome neighbor, a wolf shifter who's both mysterious and perfect. Maybe too perfect? He did save her life during a vicious attack, but some strange coincidences have Zara second-guessing her alliances.

The town of Wisteria may be quaint on the surface, but danger lurks around every corner. To protect her family, Zara must risk her heart and her life. Forces of good and evil will face off in a battle where one side has a secret advantage.

One thing's for sure. Zara Riddle is keeping these new powers, blue lightning balls and all.

Once you go witch, you never switch.

Critic reviews

"It's thrilling! It's funny! And it won't leave you in agonizing pain (except, possibly, from laughter)." (Robert J. Crane, author of the best-selling Girl in the Box series)

So funny and clever from start to finish!

Wisteria Witches
Wisteria Witches Mysteries, Volume 1
By: Angela Pepper
Narrated by: Tiffany Williams
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I am a fan of this author's books but this new series is hilarious! There is so much witty banter and clever remarks, I feel I should listen again because I might have missed some! It is such a fun listen! I had a smile on my face most of the time the book was playing. I loved the plot, the crazy characters, and the silly connection between the mother and daughter! An enjoyable witch story with added ghost and shifter and who knows what else in this town... this has wonderful potential for a super series! I am in love with it already!
The narrator was wonderful! Performing comedy isn't easy but she made it seem natural! Perfect narration! So funny!

MY NEW FAVORITE COZY SERIES

WISTERIA WITCHES is the first book in the Wisteria Witches series.

I think I may have found a new favorite in the cozy mysteries! Witches – check. Intelligently crafted - check. Kooky family – check. Witty banter – check. Snark – BIG CHECK! This is the tribe to which I would want membership. I always wanted to be a witch.

Then there is the hunky neighbor and the sexy sparks that are flying any time he is near. Oo-la-la! He has his own mysterious secrets to be explored and a family that keeps him on his toes!

Of course, this is just the first book in a series that already has five releases and one spin-off (with another spin-off planned), so there are plenty of open questions to keep my mind happily wondering what more could be coming. I am looking forward to many happy hours of listening to the adventures of Zara, her daughter, her aunt, and whoever else may grace the pages of these books.

Narration: Tiffany Williams is a fantastic narrator. She is very animated and it feels as if she is relaying her own tale of life. This is definitely not boring, cold reading. I have a feeling she may have started out as a fan of Angela Pepper!

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Fantastic

I'm so glad this came out in audio. Wisteria Witches is a witch cozy mystery series about a single mom and her daughter who move to a new town and uncover a new world of magic and mystery. The main character, Zara has a smart, quirky sense of humor that leads to some laugh-out-loud funny moments. The humor is bright and good-spirited, without being painfully embarrassing. Zara is very much grounded in today's culture and technology, and uses a lot of fun pop culture references that give the book a slightly geeky, fresh feel. A lot of world-building takes places as Zara becomes introduced to the supernatural community around her, and the magic system has some fun twists I haven't seen before. The author leaves a lot of loose threads for further expansion. It is clear that this book is part of an ongoing series, but it can still be read on its own. The romance quotient is low in this book, but the main prospect seems to have a lot of backstory still to be explored in future books. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review, and I am happy I was so I wouldn't miss this one.

Wow, Tiffany Williams is a fantastic narrator. She really brings Zara to life and she has a good range of voices. There were several group scenes in the book where several people were talking in succession and I found it easy to tell the characters apart. The production values were great on the narration, too, I didn't notice any of the hissing or popping you sometimes hear. (And on an unrelated note: I'm loving that cover art.)

If you are a fan of Juliet Blackwell, Bailey Cates or Heather Blake, I think you'll love this book.

I want to move to Wisteria

This audio is filled with cutesy characters, fun filled scenes, and will make you want to move to Wisteria. Love the fruit centerpiece.
Narrator was clear and characters easily distinguished. My only complaint was that she was a little to fast.
This audio was given to me free of charge, and I voluntarily gave this review.

Slightly moronic but cute if you're about 12 yo.

Very simple but sweet. My issue? Being a lifetime geek, I know no one of library ties would be so simple minded.

Great Book!

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Wisteria Witches Mystery series and is written by Angela Pepper and narrated by Tiffany williams. Zara and her daughter move to Wisteria to start a new life. Her new witch powers have kicked in and they are finally meeting some long lost relatives. When a ghost shows up, Zara finds out her Spirit Charmed powers come with a cost. She must solve the woman's murder. Zara teams up with her handsome neighbor, a wolf shifter who's both mysterious and perfect. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you listening long into the night, it has it all romance, mystery paranormal and humor. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I really enjoy this narrator, she is one of my favorites. She does a fantastic job with all the voices and kept my attention until the end.

Such a fun book!

This was such a fun book! My favorite character was Zara. She was so bubbly and funny. I also loved the next door neighbor, Chet. I’ve often wanted to move somewhere where nobody knows me like Zara did. She moved to Wisteria to take a job as a librarian. The house she bought has some secrets. So do the neighbors and other residents of the town. There were so many elements to this story. Mystery, cozy, suspense and even some spooky happenings outdoors. I laughed through a lot of it. The author knows how to add in some humor at the right places. What makes it even better is that it is clean and the younger generation would enjoy it also.

If you prefer audiobooks, the narrator is WONDERFUL! She does the perfect voice for the different characters. I liked aunt Zinnia and look forward to learning more about her. The narrator really brought the characters to life, especially Grandpa Don. All through the book I was rooting for Zara and Chet to get close but by the end, there were some more possibilities.

Even Better than Advertised

I’d read or heard that this series was a mix of Gilmore Girls and Charmed and I was not disappointed! The witty banter between the mother and daughter is very reminiscent of GG. Charmed is very well represented by the fact that the story involves new witches who don’t quite know how to use their power or understand the new world they’ve been thrust into. I thought it was a perfect mix!

With that knowledge I did not anticipate that it would be high fantasy or very heavy reading, which honestly is sometimes a relief. This book is great for when you just want to curl up and enjoy something light and easy to read, relax and get lost in an alternate world for a bit.

The narration by Ms. Williams was wonderful. The tones to her voice not only tell you who the characters are but are also very adept at conveying the lightheartedness of Zara, the teenage angst of Zoey and the sternness of Zinnia. It makes for a great listen!

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Fun and Quirky

I loved this story it was fun and quirky. Zora is so not your normal mom and her getting her witchy powers just makes her cooler in my own opinion. This whole story was fun and entertaining. I really loved the up beat happy feeling the story gave off. Tiffany did an amazing job narrating and helped make the story even more up beat and funny with her voice.
