Publisher's Summary

Avery Shaw is having a bad week. First, she had to cover a story on a barricaded gunman who likes to dance naked in his window. Second, she's receiving death threats with her morning newspaper. Lastly, and most importantly, her mom keeps vetoing her outfit choices. It's all in a day's work for this hardworking, if easily distracted, reporter. Avery Shaw is hot on the trail of the story, even if it means tangling with her hot ex-boyfriend - the county sheriff - and the equally hot, if slightly shadier pawnshop owner down the street. Getting the story is going to be totally worth it - that is if Avery can survive the week.

Chick lit not a true mystery

The main character is an immature teen who thinks vandalizing a car because it's owner thinks her son's fiancé isn't good enough for him who can't shut up about "hot bods" of her competing love interests while defending her choice of Star Wars need t-shirts as appropriate for a real reporter. I really wish Audible/Amazon would quit dumping thinly plotted romances into the mystery category because the is some really week plot that attempts to provide a reason to get into a relationship with two competing male interests.

Lots of Silly Humor, Not Much Plot

I have to admit I have never liked characters who think saying smart alecky things passes for humor or wit. Like Stephanie Plum. So this was an uneasy fit for me.

Unbelievable characters, no plot to speak of. I'm sure that many may enjoy this book. It just wasn't for me.

Narrator had one irritating voice but the rest of the narration was fine.
