Publisher's Summary

Stavern, 1983. After a brutal robbery, a young policeman named William Wisting is edged off the investigation by more experienced officers, but soon he is on another case that has not even been recognised as murder.
Forgotten in a dilapidated barn stands a bullet-riddled old car, and it looks as if the driver did not get out alive. This case will shape William Wisting as a policeman and give him insight that he will carry with him for the rest of his career.

Excellent

The author does an excellent job of story telling. I've read all of his books that have translated into english, This one continues the awesome series featuring Mr. Wisting! Even as I neared the end of this one, I could not help but look forward to the next book in the series. The narrator as usual is phenomenal, he is in my top 5 narrators.

The Beginning of Detective Wisting

After listening to another William Wisting book, I HAD to go back and begin this series from the first . . . and I'm so glad that I did . . . humble policeman, husband and father in Norway stumbles on to a vintage car in an old barn . . . and it had many tales to tell . . . this is where a young policeman found that he actually wanted to be an investigator . . . and he had a knack for it . . . for those who find the books slow . . . I say you are way too impatient . . . for William Wisting is a thinking man . . . with the BEST instincts . . . and a lot to like . . . great mystery, great story, and GREAT resolution!

Brilliant, evocative and beautifully read...

Fabulous in English, brings characters and landscapes to life. Interesting mystery, thoughtful reflection on the changes in the nature of crime over the years of the 20th century.
