Publisher's summary

Ellison Russell wanted a decorator, not a corpse. Too bad she finds Mrs. White in the study killed with a revolver. Things go from bad to worse when she finds Mr. White in the dining room killed with a candlestick. With so many bodies, is it any wonder Detective Anarchy Jones' new partner considers Ellison a suspect?

With the country club gossips talking a mile a minute, an unexpected cocktail party, a visit from Aunt Sis, and a romantic decision, Ellison hardly has time to think about murder. Unfortunately, the killer has plenty of time to think about her.

Wonderful Series!

Such an entertaining series, set in the 70’s – who doesn’t love revisiting the 70’s! Ellis can’t seem to go a week without finding a dead body and this week is no exception. The author does a wonderful job of rounding out the characters and describing the scenes which pulls you into the story. I definitely recommend this series if you like a mystery and the 70’s with a little bit of romance thrown in (just a little)! BTW, this is a wonderful audio book, the narrator is awesome!

Ridiculous story

On one hand the author strives to show how women are abused by men yet has the heroine exhibit the cliche used in most female murder mysteries, a woman who is helpless to resist the handsome policeman.

This writer is talented but lazy. Rather than build on the strong lead character she uses the same old, tired story line.

Julie Mulhern has a wonderful way with words. I have read each book in the series and they get better and better.
Callie Beaulieu does a stupendous job of enacting the book.

Yes!

I dearly love Julie Mulhern. My only criticism is the orator and her pronunciation of knock knock and ring ring. Surely a real knock and ring could be found.

Julie Mulhern does it again

Once again, I am impressed by Julie Mulhern's writing. The stories in this series have a feminist undertone without it being overdone and obvious. Mulhern is one of my favorite writers and I look forward to the next book in this series.

I love this series. unique and funny!

The 70s dropping makes this murder mystery series a lot of fun! This installment deals with domestic violence and equal rights.

a difficult subject handled well

I am late in learning of this series. But I am thoroughly enjoying each book. This book dealt with a difficult subject matter but it was handled well and without too much DRAMA. Looking forward to the next one.

Murder among the Upper Echelon

A fun and enjoyable story with a very serious underlying issue of domestic violence. The story takes place in 1970, before the country’s consciousness was raised about these subjects.

The story is about the very well to do, something which I know little to nothing about, so I enjoyed my visit rubbing elbows with the rich! ☺️ At any rate, Ellison is a very sweet lady and a good and devoted friend, someone I would love to have in my own life…☺️

I enjoyed the low key and very calming voice of the narrator!

Great book

Wonderful characters, real problems, realistic families and enough suspense and mystery.
Thank you for taking on the challenge of such an explosive subject.
