Publisher's Summary

Dazzling and devious Juliette was anything but popular with the upper class set she'd married in to. Her husband, Arthur, bought her off with a ruinously expensive divorce. But a few years later, Juliette turned up again - and days later she was dead. Almost everyone in the exclusive town had a motive for wanting Juliette dead. Now, it's up to skeptical Sheriff Russell Shand to pierce the wall of aristocratic silence, and find the ruthless killer.

Could not finish

I just really did not care for the narration. It seemed too sing-song for my taste.

Rinehart's best mystery

If you could sum up Wall in three words, what would they be?

Wonderful setting, plotting and characters.

What did you like best about this story?

I've read the physical book many times, and it remains my favorite. It was fun to listen to; it's quite a different kind of pleasure.

How could the performance have been better?

I personally don't like readers who whisper, or who end declarative sentences with a rising inflection, and I found it an irritation here, but the power of the story was just too strong to let this matter too much.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

At 10 hours, it's too long for that.

Any additional comments?

In her day, no one outsold Rinehart, and even now, the rich flavor of that opulent lifestyle of the rich between the wars comes through. And a nit. The title of the book is THE Wall, not "Wall." How could a reader get this wrong? Or the Audible listing?
