More Romance that Crime Thriller

I rented this book hoping to find an new crime thriller series to enjoy. It could have been great but the relationship between the two main characters was much more the focus that the actual story and crimes. We learned very little about the perpetrator and spent way too much time going through the personal trials of the profiler and main detective. it got rather tedious. I will not be continuing with this series.

I am not a fan of romances and was not aware that this author appears to be a romance writer. If you like romances, its probably ok.

Too much sex!

I’m sure the author is a very capable writer when it comes to the topic of intimate romance, however if that was what I was looking for I would have looked under Erotica. I wasn’t expecting to find so many mind-numbingly descriptive passages in a crime thriller. It did nothing to enhance the storyline at all.
A disappointment.

Couldn’t finish

I had to stop listening to this book about 6 chapters in. In my onion, I feel like the lead female character is supposed to be an independent, strong woman, but unfortunately, the narrator makes her sound incredibly meek and demur. He will add an inflection of a question at the end of her lines, as if she’s not sure of what she is saying, or not confident in her assessment. This book would have greatly benefited with a female narrator. I want the female protagonist in a book like this to show her strength, not be gentle and shy. She’s written tough, but read weakly

Meh.. not a huge fan of the ending

NO SPOILERS GIVEN.. It was entertaining that’s why I’m giving it a 4, but not a huge fan of the ending. The ending felt a little rushed for me. I wish there was more of a build up. And just a note, there’s a whole lot of sex and details I didn’t expect to be in there! Some people didn’t like the narrator, he did a perfectly fine job. Definitely not annoying/obnoxious

Terrible narration

This guy can barely read. He reads about as well as my 3rd grader with no concept of pausing or appropriate emphasis. Ugh.

Not bad

My only real issue with it is they give far more detail in the sex scenes than they do in the investigation. I'm not sure what the point was.

shaping up to be a great series!

i first chose this book for the narrator~ Bronson Pinchot’s character voice of Balki back in the 80s was hysterical, so it figured to me he’d be perfect for utilizing different character voices in narration. i was so right! pretty sure i’ll be devouring every single one of the books with his name on it! not only did he bring the book alive, but Kylie Brant spins a good thriller. overall=impressed!

Almost unbearable, I'm not sure how I endured it.

I thought this was a a crime suspense novel, but I was wrong. No real investigation detail here...no memorable characters, no landscape, no mood.

The reading of the womens voices was insulting, especially the dialog of the protagonist. Was she a woman or a mouse? I'm really not sure.

I think books about female protagonists should be read by somen and books about men read by men.It just seems so fake otherwise. But maybe that's just me.

The sex scenes were nauseating. Never again will I read anything more in this series. Boy was I duped! This is definitely some kind if romance book...not a crime story.

It looks like I bought the second one too...if only I could get my points back! Oh well...deleting both from my library now.

Worst Performance Ever

This book is like listening you a robot. I couldn’t listen after 3 chapters. It’s awful!

Again, This Author Needs a Good Editor

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, I would recommend it, but with the warning that the 'steamy' scenes in most cases don't add to the plot

Would you recommend Waking Nightmare to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not because it takes too long to get to the actual story.

What three words best describe Bronson Pinchot’s voice?

Fine for the genre.

Could you see Waking Nightmare being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

A movie, perhaps, but it would require a great deal more non-sex-related action. Don't know about the stars.
