Enjoyed the story overall, too much romance!

This author writes crime novels that always spend way too much time and detail about how the 2 main characters end up falling in love, very details sex, etc. not my cup of tea. Story overall was good, hence the rating.

narrator is a moron

good story. worst narration I have ever endured. this idiot's idea of a southern accent was pure torture! every character sounded like Forrest Gump. I can't even!

OK series, good narrator, very formulaic

This has some vague spoiler alerts but nothing specific.

I would not be reading this series if it I had to use credits for it. Even then, I skipped a book and have fast forwarded parts. The crime, or mystery part of plots are good, as is the author's use of the English language. But after only three books I could see the pattern of events that would unfold, particularly as it relates to the (always) male and female agents who were paired. Very formulaic, I don't have a problem with steamy sex scenes, but in each succeeding book those scenes varied little from previous. Same cat and mouse romance games, even same words and descriptions used over and over. And of course each agent is gorgeous and sexy, regardless of gender. I am on the last book and will not be reading any more even if they come out and even if they still don't cost me any credits. I plowed through these in a week and a half while working.

I noticed some severe criticisms of the narrator. Pinchot is one of the few male narrators who give each character his/her own voice and can do a very credible female voice and even children. I have read another series narrated by him and was equally pleased. It made the books much better than they really are. My only complaint is that he mispronounces some words that shouldn't be mispronounced and does so consistently. Forte with an accented e, not fort. WillAMette Valley, not WillaMETTE. Participle, not parciple. He finally got desultorily right,

Unnecessarily annoying

The writing was competent and some of the characters interesting. I always love Bronson’s narration with this set of accents. On the other hand, the sex scenes were quite annoying. First of all, it was as if the author took the reaction from her previous book and cut and pasted it into this one, and then made a few little changes. Definitely a formula. Second, there was way too much detail, making it somewhat pornographic and I really didn’t need that much information. Third, comments like “his mouth feeding at hers,” and “their tongues did battle,“ are somewhat disgusting—Particularly because she used almost exactly the same language in her other book.

Even though the story held my interest, I’ll be listening to something else. I am just not interested in a blow by blow narrative about somebody else’s experiences in the middle of a crime novel.

good story , terrible take on southern accent tho

story is good but the narrator, who normally does a good job with his work, butchered the southern accent. I am from Tennessee and he just made every character sound like a slow 1900's revival preacher with no education lol
