Love this series

This story is entertaining and engaging from the start; one of the best for me so far. Inspector Erlendur and his detectives investigate a murder in a Reykjavik hotel. Insightful (and colorful) descriptions of characters, situations and conversations ensue. Indridason (and the translator) is at his best with this novel. George Guidall narrates perfectly.

Darkest in the Series

I am a fan of this author and have read all of the series. But this was really dark, more so than any of the others.

Unless you're into deep noir, I would recommend skipping this and hoping someone smiles occasionally in the next installment.

Pedophilia, drugs, gang rape, family angst and violence, all set at the holiday. Merry Christmas, not!

Narrator is superlative, as always. But don't listen depressed. I kept considering which character would suicide first. And did I mention the murder victim was dressing to play Santa!
