Publisher's Summary

Rats are always bigger than you expect. Falco, ancient Rome's hangdog investigator, hates sharing a cell with a rodent - though being bailed by his old mother is almost as embarrassing. His high-born girlfriend can't decide if she wants him, and Titus Caesar's reward for past services is a wet fish. Hoping for a better life, or at least a better apartment, he takes on new clients.
On the elegant slopes of the Pincian Hill, three nouveau riche freedmen with two flashy wives are under siege by a clever redhead. Severina Zotica has a foul-mouthed parrot, an odd connection with a snake dancer - and a very suspicious past. As he pursues this flame-haired fortune-hunter, Falco finds himself beset by violent rentracketeers, poisoners, and women without consciences who have dangerous designs on him.

Up to the usual high standard

I love this series. Great characters, intimate knowledge of everyday life in Ancient Rome. It's like taking a historical tour through the period with a street wise guide. Wonderful performance by Gordon Griffin.

im hooked

What did you like best about Venus in Copper? What did you like least?

The historical details of life in ancient Rome A weaker story compared to the previous books

Would you recommend Venus in Copper to your friends? Why or why not?

yes but read the previous books first

What does Lindsey Davis and Gordon Griffin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The first book had a different narrator, with a cheeky Cockney style which suited Falcos character better. That said I I have warmed to Gordon and look forward to reading more of the series

Do you think Venus in Copper needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

of course...I think I'll follow Falcos adventures for years to come..I'm hooked!

Any additional comments?

I'm a Sci Fi book kinda guy so this is a new adventure for me but one I am thoroughly enjoying!

Copper not gold

Not one of Lindsay Davis's best. Too many difficult names to remember in a tangled rush towards the end. As ever, very humorous, hugely well informed exposing ancient racketeering that is as revel

Bravo

Good performance and great story progressing how love conquers class boundaries. I really enjoyed the story which, having been unimpressed and scathing of the narrators effort on book 2 was no barrier to eager listening to this book 3. Great job by both author and narrator. It has me questioning now if I really am a romantic at heart ...no, surely not !

enjoyed the details of everyday Ancient Roman time

can't wait to listen to another story by Lindsey Davis. Strong female characters with a touch of humour.
