Publisher's summary

The Hunger Games meets Cinderella. This fairy tale has no happy endings - only dark beginnings. They call them the Crimson Fold. High up in their castle they look down on my little world and wield a silent control. That is, until the invitations are sent out. I never dreamed I'd be selected. They tell me it's a privilege. I should be honored.

But the fear in their eyes doesn't lie. If I refuse to go, my family will be shunned. If I go, my life and my body will no longer be mine. It'll be theirs. At midnight it will be over. At midnight, I'll be his.

Great start

This is a dystopian fairy tale based off of Cinderella. I really enjoyed the fact that the lead character Clarabelle aka Clara refuses to be like other girls. She refuses to back down from a challenge once it is in place and by keeping true to herself she has caught the eye of someone very powerful. I can not wait to see what is in store for the next book in this series! The narrator does a wonderful job with all the characters

A different take on Cinderella

Its the basic Cinderella story with a little difference. A selection process like the Hunger Games only its not fight for your life. The characters...Clara, Marsha, Patrick, Asher and Violet...are very well written. Each year some of the populace are invited to the Crimson Tide castle. It is not to be refused. Threats are made and secrets revealed. Find out what is going on by reading/listening to the book. The narrator did a wonderful job at bringing all the characters to life. I would definitely listen to this book again. Can't wait for the rest. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Had me hooked!

They're not kidding when they say it's like Cinderella and Hunger Games mixed into one. I'd add another book it reminded me of, but I feel like it might be a spoiler.
Asher reminds me of Cinna (sp? Haven't read it in forever) and Marsha reminds me Peeta xD even though there are similarities, they're completely different and I'm definitely going to read the second novel once I can!
It had me so hooked, I started listening before I went to bed @11pm...it's currently 3am and I have no regrets! :)

A Dark Beauty Pageant

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This book is truly an enjoyable dark fairytale with princes and princesses, good and evil, and the right amount of the paranormal. The storyline is easy to follow and entertaining and I truly enjoyed the narrator's rendition. Clara (bella) is a sweet and a little naive girl but with a strong will and character that allows her to overcome a not always pleasant situation. I found that the vampires are also lovable for the most part and the opulence of the "castle" and the gowns it's very girls dream.
I was a little taken aback by the abrupt ending however. I can understand the intention of creating a sequel, but somehow the conclusion to this book seemed a little unpolished and not suspenseful enough. It is definitely a series you will want to read in its entirety to truly enjoy it.

Cinderella meets hunger games

Until Midnight is book one in the Crimson Fold series by Erin Bedford. It is a mix between Cinderella and Hunger Games to me. The book is kind of short but I enjoyed it and am looking forward to book 2. The Audiobook is Narrated by Melissa Moran, I was very happy with her rendition. She kept my attention and done a great job with her different voices.

As with Cinderella, Clarabelle aka Clara's father has married so you get the wicked Stepmother and stepsisters, and the absent Father. Instead of invitations to a ball, invitations to an election are sent to the oldest child of each family. The election is buried in secrecy. If the person invited does not make the cut their memory is erased of their time at the election. If you make the cut you will not being going home to your family, but your family gets bragging rights that one of their own made the cut.

Clara gets the invitation, and her step mother cannot be more happy that she got it and not one of her daughters. She really has no choice but to go, even though she does not want to. Once she arrives she learns there is a series of interviews to see if you are a chosen to be inducted into The Crimson Fold.

The book has a hint of romance, some mystery. and adventure. I like Clara's character.

Great narration!

I was quite pleased with this story- It was very low on the heat level but had a great story- It was basically Cinderella in a dystopian world with a little PNR thrown in for good measure. Great YA story! I absolutely love Melissa Moran's narration. She brought Clarabell to life in the best way. It really was Hunger Games meets Cinderella. Would love to read more!

Kept me intrigued.

I really liked the lottery, so to speak, aspect of this story. It gave it a sort of mystery/ intrigue feel at times. The characters were rather fun especially Clarabell and Asher. Clara is sassy and outspoken and I'm intrigued as to how she will grow throughout the story. I'm sure she will be "handling" Patrick quite well. Very interested to see where this story goes. The narrator was good and brought the story to life.

A SURPRISINGLY good vampire series

I was not sure when I first saw this book on audible but I hoped it was good and the sample seemed good. I just wasn't sure if it was about vampires or witches or what? I hoped vampires but the story description was not very clear and the story didn't let you in on the for sure truth until the beginning of the last section of the book of book one. The things I thought tipped the book in the direction of vampire genre was the blood red eyes of the girl on the cover and then the title that says "Until Midnight" then written below in tiny lettering "When the clock strikes twelve she'll be his". Then the description of the story states at the very end "If I go, my life and my body will no longer be mine. It'll be theirs. At midnight it will be over. At midnight, I'll be his.".
Not to forget that it says Crimson fold meaning bloodly and the fold like the flock or group like a vampire coven:)
I always loved Melissa Moran from when she originally recorded A Vampire Gift Series by E.M. knight . So glad to have waisted my credits on this series wish there were more good vampire, adventure, romance continuing audiobook series on audible:)
Most definitely worth a credit in my opinion:)!

A enjoyable short read

A enjoyable yet unique take on the classic Cinderella story. The book was very enjoyable and the narration was excellent. Saying that I think that this series would probably appeal to young adults rather than The more seasoned Reader. Received this book from the author, publisher, or narrator all opinions are my own.
