Excellent Psychological Suspense...

I've never read/listened to anything by this author before but am very pleased that I decided to try her new book.
The beginning of this book sounds as if the Casey Anthony trial was used as a template. The major difference is that the murdered child was found in the Boston Bay instead of a wooded area.
The protagonist (Mercer) is an author/journalist. She's been hired to write a book about the trial and conviction. But as with the Anthony trial, the antagonist (Ashlyn) is exonerated. Her publisher asks Mercer to allow Ashlyn to move in so they could coauthor a book telling the "real" story.
Mercer has recently lost her husband and daughter in a car accident and is very vulnerable. Ashlyn is a master at manipulation and story telling. She manages to turn Mercer's world upside down. For Mercer, none of that matters. She only wants to know if Ashlyn killed her own daughter.
Saskia Maarleveld does an excellent job narrating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this book.

Trust Me, I couldn't wait to put it down.

Trust Me had one thing going for it - the narrator. She was pretty good at her job and her voice wasn't annoying.

The book: The first four hours were about the horrific crime - a mother was on trial for murdering her child. The Journalist writing a story about the crime (the narrator) was struggling with the loss of her husband and daughter in a car accident the year before the case. This made the first 4 hours the saddest, most heart wrenching hours ever. After that it picked up a bit, but the "twists" as everyone describes them, left me disappointed.

The book is full of heart aches and manipulation, beginning to end.

Waste of time

I kept waiting for this book to go somewhere. It did not. Half the time you’ll find yourself wanting to slap the protagonist. She is that gullible! First and last book by this author for me.

Not a fan

If not for Saakia’s beautiful voice, I would have quit this had I been reading vs listening.

Psychological thriller.....

If this is a good example of a psychological thriller, then perhaps the genre is not for me. A large portion of the middle of the book tracks the subtle but distinct psychological transformations of the two main characters - fascinating for some; belabored for others. Suspension of logic (perhaps that is what makes it a psychological thriller?) allows the plot to move forward at a lethargic pace. Perhaps I would've enjoyed this book more had I read it instead of listened to it. Narration, however, is first rate - subtle voice changes, emotion, etc - all excellent. Only reason I finished the book.

took 5 chapters and streached them into 85.
It was predictable and repetitive.
how many times can you say Ashton in one book.

Loved it

I really enjoyed this book so much that I’m going to listen to The Murder List next.
This book starts off strong and then it gets a little long winded 3/4 of the way but the ending is worth the wait. I can’t wait to tell my book club.
