Publisher's Summary

When Atlanta police detective Michael Ormewood is called out to a murder scene at the notorious Grady Homes, he finds himself faced with one of the the most brutal killings of his career: Aleesha Monroe is found in the stairwell in a pool of her own blood, her body horribly mutilated. As a one-off killing it's shocking, but when it becomes clear that it's just the latest in a series of similar attacks, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are called in, and Ormewood is forced into working with Special Agent Will Trent of the Criminal Apprehension Team, a man he instinctively dislikes. But then, only 24 hours later, the violence Michael sees around him every day explodes in his own back yard. And it seems the mystery behind Monroe's death is inextricably entangled with a past that refuses to stay buried.

Abridged

Although it's not stated, this book is abridged. I felt that the story was too short and too much was missing for this to be enjoyable. Maybe unabridged would be better but there is not one available.

Can't go wrong with Karin Slaughter!

Would you listen to Triptych again? Why?

I had already read this book (and most of Karin Slaughter's back catalogue) but my husband wanted a good audiobook so I suggested we start at the beginning! I love the Will Trent series and will happily listen to all of these books more than once. Slaughter's books never hang around, you never feel like they are slow-paced or slow-burners, she hooks you right from the start. The characters are enjoyable and every story is an easy, enjoyable read/listen. Thankfully the narrator was good and didn't have an irritating voice, good performance all round. Would thoroughly recommend, although this is probably my least favourite of Slaughter's books it still kicks the pants off of most other crime writers.

Great story, better if it was unabridged

I really enjoyed the story line and the narration, however seemed to be alot of gaps due to it being the abridged version.
