Publisher's Summary

East End chimney sweep Tom Wasp is highly flattered to be asked to model for Valentine Drake, a painter in fashionable Chelsea. His co-model is the beautiful and warm-hearted Bessie Barton, a redheaded stunner who soon becomes his friend. When Bessie's body is found on the muddy banks of the river Thames, Tom is grief-stricken and vows to find her murderer. Assisted by his 11-year-old apprentice, Ned, he discovers a monstrous shadow that hung over her life: Moonman. But who is he? Is he one of the Angels - the high-minded group of artists to which Valentine belongs? Or is the truth more terrifying still?

Great book

I loved this book. Tom Wasp, chimney sweep, is the main protagonist, and the guy who reads the book does a wonderful job with the Cockney accent (wonderful in that he sounds Cockney, but you can understand him). Tom is a great character. I hope more of Amy Myers' Tom Wasp books (if there are any) are recorded. They're are much less dismal and move along much more quickly than Anne Perry's books in a similar Victorian setting. Tom has a great "voice," and he hasn't lost his sense of humor, even though his circumstances are dire.

good story.

Any additional comments?

told in the first person by tom wasp this is the story of him looking for the person who murdered his friend Bessie, a young woman who has been the model for a group of painters.
. tom decides to find out about her past hoping it will lead to a reason for her death and the person who killed her.
another good story by amy myers with enough history to brings tom's surroundings and investigations to life without it getting in the way of the story.
enjoyed terry wales performance as tom wasp.
shame there are only two books in this series.
