Publisher's summary

The ultimate biological warfare attack is achieved when a group of American soldiers return home from deployment infected with a highly contagious pathogen. The ground zero incubation period is lengthy, and before it is even known that they are infected, the soldiers have already carried it to various cities across the United States.

The culprit of this weapon is not a country or even a person, but rather nature itself.

Within time, no place in the world is safe.

Typically, after work, Brady Lawrence is content sitting on his couch playing video games, taking care of his mother, and watching for disturbing stories on the news. When a particularly gruesome case quarantines the next town over, Brady convinces his best friend, Jason, to go with him and investigate. Their curiosity leads them not only into the thick of things but stuck at the center of ground zero.

In the midst of trying to get out and make it home before the outbreak reaches their families, Brady and Jason soon find themselves on a path to being unlikely heroes in the battle against the infected.

The infection spreads like wildfire, and finding a cure or method to beat it seems hopeless.

Three Miles Out: Book One is the journey of that outbreak.

Good Solid Thriller

This action filled end of the world story will please those listeners who enjoy this type of genre.

The concept of the story is far from new but although some elements are borrowed from previous stories it is original enough to be enjoyed as a stand alone work on its own.As a Audio book it is
more entertaining then reading the book since it is accompanied with a good performance by the narrator.

Good story.

Some American soldiers return home from deployment with more than they left with! They are infected with a highly contagious virus and are spreading it unknowingly. It causes the host to become violent and murderous. They are also ravenous! Is this the beginning of the end?

I quite liked the plot of this one! The action happens right from the start and it's pretty much non stop the whole way through. The author gave us a lot for such a shortish read... it's only about 160 pages! I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, especially the two best friends. It added some levity to the story, until it didn't ;)!!! While it's a zombie book and there is gore, there wasn't so much as to make me squirm. I feel like the author captured the right amount of everything to make this really enjoyable.

In all, this was a solid read. I can't wait till I can listen to the next one because I'm invested in the characters now and need to see what happens next!

Michael Johnson read it well. He had sufficient tones and voices to distinguish the characters, I just felt like he needed to bring more life into his infections to really bring the atmosphere to life. Still, I do hope he narrates the next one!!

Good Start to a Zombie Thriller

Jacqueline does a good post-apocalyptic story. Some of hers are unique and some are run of the mill. This one is somewhere in between. There are basically two stories going on and the one with Brady and Jason felt like the comic relief. They even mentioned Shaun of the Dead which I felt like these characters replicated the bond between the main characters in that movie. I enjoyed their story the most. The other plot line was more of the explanation of what was happening and followed more of your typical apocalypse story. I felt that story line was a little slow and familiar.

As this is the first story in a series this is really the buildup to the action. While Jason and Brady see some action, I expect the future books will provide much more. I think this one was mainly to introduce the characters and set the backdrop for the overall story arc. This was a quick listen and not a complete story so I hope the next one comes out soon.

First time listening to Michael Johnson and I was pleased. Hope he will continue on with the next one.

Great short zombie/pandemic story

This is a great book for anyone who likes zombie/pandemic/ Walking Dead type of stories. This is a very short book. I purchased the audiobook version and wasn't disappointed. This book is action packed, and Michael Johnson as the narrator makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the action. The characters are well developed, funny, engaging and are easily relatable, and the narrator captures all of that perfectly. Please have the same narrator for book 2. Looking forward to book 2. What will happen next?

Awesome book

Great book... I like how the author didn't get wrapped up in just one character. There were multiple characters from different stand points in the book.

Good start to an entertaining zombie apoc series!

Three Miles Out: Book One by Jacqueline Druga is the first in the Three Miles Out zombie apocalypse series. While zombie apocalypse stories have been done over and over, Ms. Druga still was able to make her story unique enough to not be a total carbon copy of others that have already been written. Since this is the first book and a quick listen at only four hours, this book really is meant to introduce the characters and set the stage for future sequels. The action starts from the beginning and continues on through to the end. It wasn't my all time favorite zombie/poc listen, but if you're into zombie/poc stories, I'd definitely check this one out to see if you like it.

Michael Johnson delivered a good, solid performance with his narration. I would have liked to have heard a bit more emotion in the narration, which is honestly why I think I didn't get more into the story than I did, but it was still a good performance, nonetheless. I'd still try more books narrated by him in the future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Three Miles Out

Good opening to the series. I've read/listened to many zompoc books. Rarely do the zombie virus become airborne. I look forward to book two. I thought the narrator did a good job. I received this audio book for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.
