Publisher's summary

Rose is called into action when Neely Kate's cousin goes missing and the police refuse to take it seriously. But while the authorities - Rose's ex-boyfriend, included - are certain the missing woman has run away, mounting evidence points to foul play. Rose agrees to help her friend, even if it means partaking in Neely Kate's shenanigans, including an impromptu trip to a strip club.

And because trouble never comes without a guest, Skeeter Malcolm, Fenton County's newly crowned underground king, resurfaces, saying he needs Rose's visionary gift to track down his enemies. He makes her the only offer she can't refuse: The guaranteed safety of her assistant DA boyfriend, Mason Deveraux, who is being threatened by forces unknown. The Fenton County law enforcement is still abuzz about the infamous Lady in Black, who took part in the underground auction that earned Skeeter his crown. Can Rose risk a reprisal of her role?

As the stakes continue to rise and the search for Neely Kate's cousin becomes increasingly complicated, Rose must struggle to keep both her secret identity and her sanity.

Wonderful Series

Denise this is such a wonderful series and I can never get enough of listening to these books. Rose is Rose and she somehow crawls into your soul and never leaves. I love her and NK never ending shenanigans. Joe, Mason and Skeeter Malcolm they all great people who come to life in each of your stories.

Always fun

Well written and fun. Decent plot and the character buildup was great as always with Denise Grover Swank.

More Rose, more fun, more shenanigans and more visions

I just love Rose and her quirkiness, her stumbling accidentally into crimes, her naiveté, and her good heartedness. Rose is a 24 year old woman living in a nosy closed minded small town. She experiences visions that she’s compelled to share with the person she has them of. In this story, Rose of course, finds herself suddenly in the middle of intrigue and danger when she helps Neely Kate look for her missing cousin Dolly Parton and also reprises her role of the lady in black. The usual ridiculousness follows Rose and Neely Kate while they investigate. Mason, Neely Kate, Joe, and Skeeter are once again major secondary characters in this story. The book was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline with sweet moments, exciting action, danger, family drama, painful pasts, mystery, plot twists, imperfect characters, missteps, and all the big feels. I am looking forward to reading what happens next in Rose’s life.

Shannon McManus did a great job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.
