Stealing the Ruby Slippers from the museum was easy. Jared broke in, smashed the case, and got out without leaving any evidence. But when Hurricane Katrina wipes out the buyer he had lined up, he's stuck. The country's most famous shoes are hidden in his dirty laundry.
The theft wasn't just for fun - it was the last chance he had to pay back his gambling debts. His creditor won't accept excuses and is done granting extensions. He's going to have to pay, either in cash or blood.
While he figures out what to do next, Jared's girlfriend thinks it's okay to wear the priceless artifacts. And now the police would like to ask him a few questions.
Inspired by the real-life unsolved mystery, Stealing the Ruby Slippers blends fact and fiction to keep you guessing until the last minutes.

A very enjoyable mystery.
At this time I can't compare it to another book because I can't think of another left quite so open ended, because I don't for a minute believe that everyone really dies and that is really the end.
No, I found the narration slow and monotone pretty much throughout.
The moments that most moved me were when the cops broke into Jarrod apartment and found him half dead( though being a paramedic once they described the stench,i knew. It is not one you forget) . The other was when they told Eric Jarrod was dead, even I wasn't expecting that. I kept thinking it had to be a trick being played by the cops, but now it doesn't seem so.
A thoroughly enjoyable story despite the lackluster performance of the narrator.
