Publisher's summary
Tiger has lost almost everything. Her village. Her community. Her father. But her brother, Tarren, who has been kidnapped by the deadheads that razed her village, still lives. With only the loyal but enigmatic old man, Sai, to guide her into the nightmare-jungle that was once North America, Tiger must face her greatest fears in a race to save her brother before he is lobotomized, even while the world around her is bled dry by Those That Watch.
The Watchers are in the end-stages of stripping the planet of its mineral resources - but as Tiger travels deeper into the lush inner-band, she learns that a far more dangerous biological resource is being cultivated on her dying world for a war that defies human comprehension. The race to save her brother’s life takes on a new dimension as she uncovers the truth about her family, the sly old man she travels with and the uncanny beings she meets on her journey.
Tiger must question the invisible threads that bind her to her world, her brother, and her hidden past - but she will also discover that she is tied to a frightening and perhaps inevitable future and that she may not control her destiny. She will come to know The Tethering.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Story
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
Wonderfullly intriguing story!
I read this story last year but was eager to buy the audiobook as I enjoy the performative aspects of having a narrator read a story aloud. Grace Nichols, the narrator, did an excellent job in bringing Jeremy R. Strong’s characters and story to life. Her voice was crisp and evocative and the pace of the reading flowed naturally. The story was excellent - a futuristic, post-apocalyptic tale that traces the journey of a young woman Tiger as she travels beyond the Tar Garden with her loyal guide Sai to pursue deadly raiders who have taken prisoners from her village including her brother Tarren. There is a primal quality to this exciting tale as interwoven in the action of the story is a myth of a coming Starchild and the possible renewal of the world and the unification of humanity. Fans of Ursula Le Guin and H.G. Wells will love this story!
