Publisher's Summary

In a remote house in the middle of Dartmoor, six shadowy figures huddle around a small table for a seance. Tension rises as the spirits spell out a chilling message: "Captain Trevelyan...dead...murder."Is this black magic or simply a macabre joke? The only way to be certain is to locate Captain Trevelyan. Unfortunately, his home is six miles away and, with snow drifts blocking the roads, someone will have to make the journey on foot.

Perfect for winter evenings in front of the fire

Hugh Fraser delivers an excellent rendition of The Sittaford Mystery. His voice lends itself well to Christie novels, maybe because he plays Hastings so well in the Poirot TV Series. His voice is easy on the ear and he provides a warmth to the characters. The audio quality is good although sometimes it gets a little quiet in places but this doesn't detract from the story. The reading pace is consistent and subtle increases at drama points work well.
The plot of the book is interesting and unusually has characters traveling some distances to unfold their burdens. Set in winter, surrounded by deep snow, this book is perfect as an evening listen in front of a crackling fire.
