Publisher's Summary

The Shepherd: A Society Lost is an action-packed post-apocalyptic thrill ride detailing the struggles of former sheriff Jessie Townsend as he and his family seek shelter from a crumbling world with a self-sufficient life on a homestead deep in the Rocky Mountains. Sanctuary soon becomes what he meant to escape, peaceful bliss slipping into desperation and despair in the aftermath of events that shook the foundations that shaped our world to the core. An unholy alliance of conspirators had sought the collapse of our civilization in order to rebuild and reclaim it as their own. Never truly intending to coexist, the unlikely allies found their courses diverging, leading to a struggle that dealt the final death blows to our society. In the absence of the order and structure of our modern civilization, evil, suffering, and chaos were unleashed throughout the world. As the post-collapse struggles of the outside world begin to threaten Jessie's mountain hideaway, a return to the world he left behind becomes a chance for redemption and survival in a society lost.

Complete waste of both time and money

Another copycat, societal breakdown story that is badly written. How about the following skill sets for "Jesse" the main character: former county sheriff, a hermit shepherd, and a pilot. How believable is this? Another example, Jesse gets shot in the shoulder but manages to make it to an abandoned house that was well stocked by a prepper veterinarian. As it turns out, the vet is back home and is lonely for a friend. The vet patches old Jesse right up and they quickly set out to kill bad guys. Gunshots take months to heal and many have permanent damage. That's not the case with Jesse, he feels good enough to fly a plane across country in search of his sister. The single prepper vet makes the decision to leave all life saving preps behind and go with Jesse across country. Two words!!! "GET REAL." The plane is shot down over New Mexico by extreme jihadists that quickly surround the downed aircraft. Miraculously, gunshots erupt and all jihadists are killed by guys in armored hum vees. The story is filled with miracles that save Jesse every time the author's inept writing skills back the characters into corners. I have listened to dozens of books but have never left a review. This one is so Grade A Power Stupid that I feel obligated to warn people before they buy it. That's it so consider yourself warned!!!
