Publisher's Summary

Lilith Benley and her mother, rumoured to be witches, were convicted of the murder of two teenage girls. Eighteen years later Lilith is released from prison, and shortly after she returns to her old home, a young woman is found dead. DI Wesley Peterson is called in to investigate. Meanwhile, archaeologist Neil Watson discovers a gruesome wax doll at a house that once belonged to a woman hanged for witchcraft.
And when Neil has a near-fatal accident, some suspect a supernatural connection. Even though Wesley has problems closer to home to solve, it is up to him to uncover terrible secrets and banish dark shadows collected in the past - to bring a dangerous killer to justice.

Good story....but oh my the narration!

Would you try another book written by Kate Ellis or narrated by Andrew Wincott?

Love Kate Ellis stories, however the 2 main detective characters when narrated sound like either David Essex or Ringo Starr.....very irritating!

Would you be willing to try another book from Kate Ellis? Why or why not?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Ringo Starr or David Essex......hugely distracted me from the story.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Good story

Highly Recommend

I really enjoyed this book.
The narrator was pleasant to listen to and the change between sexes and accents is good.
Living in Torquay made the book more enjoyable (it is obviously set in Dartmouth even though the name has been changed) as I know the area.
I thought the author pulled all characters in the book together well and I enjoyed the twists and turns - with a conclusion that was not easy to predict.
After hearing a short part of the book my philistine husband has turned off the TV in order to listen.
I liked the main characters and am looking forward to reading more from Kate Ellis.
