The first few tales are interesting, well performed, and well written. I understand why people are fans, it's a quite interesting mix of near future adventure with touches of sci-fi. The first half is a good listen, with good voice performance. And then...
I must warn you to, forget the last story which starts with Rackham going after a bounty at a race track, then turns into the worst most tedious bore fest you've ever heard. Even a talented voice performance by Mr. Tatum couldn't hide the boredom he must have felt in the booth. Think Tom Clancy's most self indulgent sections on every minor detail of weapons specification and translate it into minute by minute nuclear war survivors guide produced by a civil defense captain from 1953. Where's the story? Where is the tension? And why are the parts where there IS story and tension, so quickly disposed of just so we can spend interminable time learning how to fashion a makeshift air filter and what to do with human waste? No. Just no.
A unique book that started a bit slow but finished well. Character development was decent, and I imagined a brief nod to Z for Zachariah with the man in the silver radiation suit. Worth the read - and probably a second.
